Nick Griffin on Question Time..

You're either in it full time or not. As an atheist, it always amuses me how fake some folk are.

I will stress again that it's all religions and not just the one you part time in.

That is singularly one of the strangest arguments I have ever read on Bluemoon. Of course it's completely invalid. Religion, faith, whatever you want to call it, is an incredibly personal thing. Telling me I'm not a Muslim, or I'm a fake Muslim, because I enjoy a pint of Guinness is like telling a City fan he's a fake City fan because he hasn't attended every City match home and away since the day he was born. Very silly, even for someone as silly as you.

As for your stressing that it's all religions - its funny because I have never seen you question a Catholic or a Jew about what their religious habits may or may not be. You seem to only care about what us Muslims do.

Seeing as Catholics and Jews are rarely discussed on here and never get as jumpy about their religion, I can hardly talk about them.

Football is real and as far as I'm concerned, religion is fake based on silly books that have been used for all kinds of atrocities. The comparison is silly Billy.

I've got no qualms with your views on religion in general. I still don't understand why you feel the need to attack someone because they choose to class themselves as a Muslim whilst still enjoying a pint of Guinness now and again. My analogy with football is actually pretty spot on. Being religious, supporting a football team, preferring the colour purple to the colour orange, are all matters of personal choice. I can no more know what is going on in your mind, that you can know what is going on in my mind. So to try and marginalize or negate my religious beliefs because I am not 100% practicing 100% of the time is arguing for the sake of it and lacks any clear understanding. Then again, if you are an atheist, it stands to reason that you simply don't understand people who hold religious beliefs.

As for Catholics and Jews not being as "jumpy" about their religion, I think you'd find if the personal attacks on them were as frequent and as ill-informed as those on Islam, there would be just as many people being "jumpy" about that.

Can't be arsed reading all the posts.

The thread is tittled Nick Griffin on Question Time.

Yes he should be allowed on, he was voted as an MEP, whether we like it or not, surely his political view is worth listening too, I hope he doesn't get shouted down from the audience, but I hope the other panelists rip him to shreds with facts rather than myths.

We are supposed to live in a democracy, the fundamental basis of free speech, we might not like what we hear and we may not agree with it, but we should listen, to not allow him on the show would be wrong, if you give someone enough rope, they will hang themselves.

The problem is, as other have said, Griffin is too smart for that. It concerns me that as our resident right wing agitator suggested earlier in this thread, Griffin will be articulate, clever, and make sure he gets enough sound bites out of the show to legitimize his party to those on the fringes of the right wing movement who just need a nudge to cross over and become fully fledged bnp supporters.

I don't think there is a right or wrong in this. Personally I hate the idea that a fascist is given air time on the bbc when so many of the license payers who pay for the show would be forcibly removed from Britain if Griffin were to have his way. However, at the same time I totally believe in the idea of a free press, freedom of speech, etc.

I agree with this. He's a democratically elected MEP so he has as much right to be on there as anyone else. I myself wouldn't vote for the BNP in a million years but I am genuinely interested in how he's going to handle his appearance on Question Time. Also, I hope that the audience isn't hand-picked and predominantly left-wing. It's only fair that it is made up of a cross-section of political views. Like it or not, that means there should be some BNP supporters in the audience as well as people from other political persuasions

I agree too, let them have their say. We don't want to be like America who claim to be free, yet communist organisations are illegal over there.

No. He`s a fascist twat who does not think that people with a different ethnic background should stay in this country. Never mind let them say what they want. Also, i suppose all the guardians of free speech would want that `captain hook` muslim bloke on question time would they. bnp people are nasty twats, they just want to stir things up imagine our Club without black players. City and proud of it.
