North Stand Construction Discussion

From the perspective of someone in south stand 1 and the atmosphere side of things there is very little that could be done to move me into higher tiers. West Ham, Newcastle, Madrid to name a few. It’s always naff. Never got why people want high up at Wembley either. If I wanted a better view of the whole pitch I’d be watching on the telly.

Having spoke to those around me there is very little interest in moving over. The change to that would be if there was a massive incentive which would pretty much have to be some form of discounted season tickets. Knowing city are already moaning at being so far behind the scum in match day revenue that won’t happen, prices are only on the up.

Some may be swayed by the new bars, I must admit if done right the massive bar behind the stand is tempting. I feel City are just going to pack it out with family related stuff or the fanzone crap however. Personally I think it should be lots of different options not linked (different beers/foods etc). Guessing that isn’t possible with licensing probably though. In all likelihood they will end up charging too much anyway so people will be tempted to drink elsewhere.

On the atmosphere front if the 1894 was to be offered a section and accept it would probably have to be either located at the very front or very back. Flags banners etc all need storing/putting away at various points of the game and doubt would work in other areas.

Rangers and united have both recently announced they are moving their core atmosphere sections to behind the goals at the front as it should be. What teams have good atmosphere sections higher up? Napoli, the Milan teams. None others really come to mind anywhere in Europe I can think of.

There is a reason people pay are willing to pay double in SS1 than move to the back the back of SS3.

Today we don’t know we are born…. The dark days of Swales et al have long departed and we should be grateful for everything we have - in the early 90s we could never have dreamed it would have worked out how it has… but still some people aren’t satisfied. I remember on 606 a good few years ago a Charlton fan ringing in and slagging off Alan Curbishley and saying they needed to think bigger - that fan must now look back on the 15 years they had CurbIshey as some sort of golden era (as the languish in League One) and I’m sure we will look back on Pep in a similar way. Perhaps we should be grateful and enjoy what we’ve got and appreciate we have never had it this good - and despite all the charges etc there isn’t a fan in the league who doesn‘t wish ADUG had chosen them.
There are always weird fans who think they know better. On the BBC programme about Pep they play back fans on what must be from the 606 phone in, saying Pep must go after the CL final defeat to Chelsea. Some fans can make a right dick of themselves sometimes.

These videos will never replace you because every City fan on here has really appreciated what you have done over the years and what you continue to do with this new development. I know being abroad reading the campus and north stand threads keeps me in touch with the club and your contribution has been huge since the beginning.

Your photos are of a high quality and represent a true fans perspective because you care about what you do and how you communicate it to others. You've advanced with technology yourself with each new camera you've bought. Using drones would probably appeal to you but only because it would give you a crane's eye view. Thanks again and keep up the excellent work as always.
Video killed the radio star?

There will be a period of adaptation but my hope is that, from the few thousand that initially go and lead on the atmosphere front, you end up with a whole stand and even a whole end that is part of it as it evolves.

What we need is positive thinking, not defeatism. We're getting an expansion that is pretty epic and provides an opportunity. There might be some concerns, but compare it to a three tiered stand the other end of the pitch and this is miles better.

It just needs a positive mindset and a group driving that through in partnership with the club. It has to marketed correctly and incentivised, through pricing.

Each to their own, I have never got why you would pay to watch a football match through the players legs or just on top of their heads either. Give me a perpsective of the game any day, there is always too high granted but some prefer that too, middle tier is sweet for me.

There's no reason NSL2 can't work as long as the club involves the wider fan base a year or months before the stand opens.

If the club keeps on restricting their ideas, plans and discussions to limited fan groups and continues omitting the wider fan base, we will end up with the wider fan base having no input into NSL2 at all, which isn't right

For example.

The club can come up with and agree on 3 different seating arrangements for NSL2 and put those 3 seating arrangements for NSL2 to the wider fan base.

Alternatively the club can put the 3 seating arrangements to the fan groups, and make a final decision without consulting the wider fan base.

The wider fan base should have some input and say on the final seating arrangements on NSL2.

I still think the demand will be huge for new stand just not really for south stand lower. If anything ss3 I can see tons wanting to swap, providing likewise pricing. Also, if new season ticket holders or youngsters sure they will want to try it.

In terms of defeatism as opposed to optimism (atmosphere wise anyway) that ship sailed when city decided against one massive stand due to the higher cost.

As others have said the plans are as is and they haven’t consulted any fans during the process. Only after as a box ticking exercise.

These fan groups that they have consulted jrb, how are they picked and who are they? Is it possible to get invited on to them?
