North Stand Construction Discussion

The away end at Newcastle United where City fans and other away fans have always stood safely and without safe standing.

I doubt very much the expanded North stand, including a larger level 2 tier, will be as tall as that or anywhere near as tall.

Look at how low the backs of the seats are in-front of the isles.

Maybe we should get rid of the Silva, Kompany and Agueros statue as well?

Nothing wrong at all with retaining links to our past. What sounds raggish is people who claim history only counts if its successful history.
Statues of Kompany, silva and and aguero and part of our recent successful past the kippax was first known as the popular side and later the Kippax street stand and shorten by the fans to the Kippax so if you want early history of unsuccessful time why not statues Bill Lievers, cliff sear and Billy MaCadams. In fact before they put seats in the scoreboard end the hardcore supporters went in that end. sounds silly but you can't pick on one part of history so lets start our new history today.

Lets not

It should officially be called 'The New Kippax Stand'.

The area behind (essentially a covered City square between two buildings) should be renamed Kippax Square.

Jobs a good'un.

I would have liked that at the time. I said elsewhere, I’d have liked the ground to have been called New Maine Road.

Think that ship’s sailed. Mad as it seems there’s fans approaching 30 who’ll have no memory of Maine Road.

We’ve had pages and pages of posts saying singers in one block can’t hear songs sung in another block due to the shit acoustics in the stadium. Yet tv not picking something up is some massive conspiracy.

Do you seriously think somebody from Sky BT ITV and BBC are all in on this and the 4 completely separate broadcasters all have a joined up plot to reduce the volume when at City making their product sound shit ( pandering to supporters of teams that aren’t even watching ) ??
Many people have said for a long time that the crowd is noticeably more audible on streams with Arabic commentary or US streams, than on Sky and BT. And that there seems to be more of a difference at City games than many others (maybe it’s the stadium and where mics are positioned, but then why would it sound mint in Arabic comms?)

Fan noise is even more quiet on the BBC than on Sky and BT. And it’s even more quiet again watching games back on City+ than even on the BBC.

The picture quality isn’t as good on the BBC either. Sky, BT and ITV have a sharper picture and louder crowd noise than BBC.

Also it’s noticeable how British broadcasters don’t show games as-live and delay it by 5 second or so to turn down the mics when fans start swearing in songs.

United fans have been cancelling their Sky subscriptions in recent years because they say that Sky turn the mics down whenever they start chanting about the Glazers.

What point are you trying to make? Your picking parts of our history by only picking recent things/ focusing on now.

Why would we ignore or not recognise over 120 years of history? Presume you think we should change the name of the Colin bell stand?

Calling the north stand the kippax makes perfect sense. You’ve gotta be on a wind up

A lot of his posts sound like he's on the windup TBH.

AC Milan have got a great setup.

Curva South.

The AC Milan Ultras have Level 2.

The main Ultras are now more organised, they wear black, and they have expanded their support and the Ultra area on Curva South

Imagine a similar banner hanging over level 2.

Day's of the standing Kippax, it was a totally different fanbase,

No women apart from Helen
half a crown entry fee
only male working class
no tourists or fans from outside North of England
Violent terraces

Now endless families
barely any trouble
full of tourists and fans from all over UK and Ireland
It has now become a family outing
prices blocking hard up fans

You forgot the difference in toilet facilities….

Would be quality that. Love the shirts they've got there as well. We've won so much recently, we've got so many options to have large banners/flags. You see at Emirates even at the City Ground how they publish their success round the ground. It always looks a bit mickey mouse when it's done formally, but having large flags/banners with a nod to our success and notable players would look amazing. Also feels almost more intimidating being higher up rather than in the first tier, looking down on the opposition from a greater height.

thanks for posting mate.
The draft plan is, subject to every dot and commer being checked,re checked and then checked again, for an announcement with plans and renders to be made in the week preceding the Newcastle home game.

The timeline remains fluid because the club want every element to be perfect.

Thoughts are also moving to the official opening with the idea of David Silva and Kun Aguero performing the opening ceremony given that neither have been able to have their well deserved testimonials.

Many of their team mates from across the era will also be involved...
could be a great gig !!
