North Stand Construction Discussion

Worth noting that these weren’t implemented until the steel roof sections were nearly completed with the South Stand build. Could obviously happen in reverse this time round though.

For now they’ll be looking to complete the sky bar/hotel box, terracing and connecting floors as these require materials to be lifted in by the crane - which will be obstructed once the roof starts.

Yeah fair reminder, no idea of the sequence tbf. It is a bit of a different arrangement as well, probably won't know till we see it happen.

@ 3 mins does for me.

Doesnt matter how many times I've seen this, Fred's total lack of fear is mind boggling, htf did he not die working ? I get a ɓit twitchy going up the frickin loft ladders...

On topic, went to see the North Stand yesterday, it's a sight to behold, incredible, I can remember thinking the Platt Lane Complex was impressive...

Before I retired I had the pleasure in meeting Fred, what a lovely honest guy ! Mind you smelled of engine oil ! we (my employer) bought a plot of land in Bolton which included the smithills chimney which needed a new lightning conductor , top retaining bands , andtop 10 metre Repoint . Turned out it was the first chimney he had ever climbed , so he was overjoyed to do the work ! I only stood at the base
of the chimney and looked up and was overwhelmed completely with vertigo ! He came up with a ridiculously cheap quote and completed the job at his leisure in about 6 months

To my knowledge he died 4 or 5 yrs later of heart problems

RIP Fred what a gent

Big thanks for all the updates to the boys with the drones.
Daft to say but, the South Stand just seemed to be under construction and then it was there.
Never went round that side to be honest as I come to the Etihad from Blackley.
Watching this construction has been incredible to see and really looking forward to the end result.
My word we’ve come an awful long way since the ground improvements at Maine Road were brand new once a season toilet fresheners in the Kippax bog troughs and they were probably bought on tick by the hundreds then declared as in the thousands by a certain ex chairman to the tax man.
