North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

I've not read all the thread but what would be the chances of moving from my seat in East Level 2 to somewhere near the front (first 15 rows) of the new North Level 2? There's more atmosphere on the moon than where I sit and while I admit to being an FOC I'm quite happy to sing a song or two.

I’m 30 yrs old too old to be part of the core 1894 demographic so I have no particular skin in this game one way or the other but on my occasional visits to SS1 I’m surrounded by young lads singing pretty much non stop from a very broad songbook

Any noise is good noise so i think it’s a bit harsh for you to label some of the songs they sing as “pathetic”. Personally I don’t think the ten hag song about our irrelevant local rivals should be sung except on derby days but if it gets people making a noise in the ground then it’s serving a purpose
There's a difference twixt " Going down with a billion in the bank".... and "Old Scaffold is falling down".

One's nonsense the other is true !!

If everyone thought like that, the club would run riot on the Disneyland experience they want Manchester City to be. They want to be every one of the worst bits of United/Liverpool/Barcelona/LA Lakers/Dallas Cowboys multiplied by ten.

They have never and will never understand English football fan culture, they don’t want to, they have no interest in it. They want us to be a tourist attraction for wankers and only aren’t already fully like that because we have enough fans who stick up for themselves and each other and would moan enough that the press would hammer the club.

If we don’t stick up four ourselves and each other, Manchester City will not be a place worth visiting for any true football fan.
When you get the people mobilsed let me know

I will join you and I am being serious

I just think the flex ticket whilst not great is also partly due to loads of season card holders over the years picking and choosing games they go to.

Until the exchange system came in the empty seats was worse than now

City saw this and came up with the flex idea

You pay extra for a guaranteed seat, the same seat but also choose when to go giving the club an opportunity to sell when you don’t.

It must be working as we can see less empty seats at games now

I know those of us of a certain age are lucky to have season cards but my youngest is 24 and has had one since he was 6, before we were as good as now.

Whats English football fan culture? Because its nothing like it was when I started going in the 70s, not like it was in the 80s, which wasn't like it was for my parents when they went in the 50s and 60s, and while it isn’t perfect and there are things I’d change mainly for matchday fans, I’m glad it’s nothing like it was then, going to football is a far better experience now than then especially for families.

As I Posted earlier, paying an additional £150 up front for (the privilege of having) a season ticket, and then buying a seat 3 weeks before the match, doesn’t guarantee the person will turn up for the match.

The additional £150 is nothing more than another way the club has come up with to get more money out of the fans.

I’ve got a normal season ticket. If the club added an additional £150 on to my season ticket, as well as the extra £50 I’m paying for Platinum, my season ticket would cost over £1000.

Why should other City fans have to pay an extra £150 for a season ticket when I and 1000’s of other City fans with a normal season tickets don’t have to pay that?

The club is forcing City fans to pay an additional £150 for a FG season ticket because the club are no longer offering alternative season tickets for the fans to purchase. Either pay the extra £150 for the FG season ticket or you don’t get a season ticket.

I get it, I just giving a different view that the club may have.

Like I said if mobilized to oppose this I would join in

Of course they do, but it’s not exactly fair. It’s becoming people on ordinary incomes/ the next generation being completely frozen out from attending games regularly because of the cost.
As our generation was when we were the next generation!!!
When I was younger I couldn’t afford a season card so I had to have patience and save and wait until I could afford it.

Everyone seems to agree that fee is way too high.

Not only is it too high, it's not necessary.

Let me give you a shit example.

When you go to buy a car, agree a price with the sakes person, decide to buy the car, go into the showroom to sign the paperwork, and then the sales person says...

"There's an admin fee of £150."

"An admin fee!"
"What's that for?"
(After the sales person types the sales details into the computer, and prints the details off for you to sign. Done!)

There's absolutely no reason or justification for the club to charge an extra £150 to buy a (FG) season ticket apart from praying on fans desperation to get a season ticket.

If the club wants to charge a fee for a season ticket, why doesn't it charge £50, £75 or £100? Why £150? How and why did the club come up with that figure? Let's have a meeting. Johnny Ball, think of a number.

Not knowing all the ins and outs of the FG season ticket, I had a look on the club website to get all the info just to get a heads up. Looking at it from a totally impartial perspective, it seems like fans are getting screwed out of an extra £150 for no reason other than a money grab by the club.

It was completely different for previous generations though. Football was more affordable and accessible for most people compared to now. For most of the time my dad watched city you didn’t need a season ticket, you could just turn up on the day and buy a cheap ticket. You’re looking at £60+ for a lot of games now - most people can’t afford that.

It’s not even just about cost. The club haven’t sold season tickets since 2019 and that’s going to continue. So someone who’s 18 might have to wait until he/she is 30+ just to be able to go regularly. How much patience should people have.

Is it any wonder why most people who attend matches are 50+, where’s the next generation when they stop attending.

It isn’t any different. I went as a teenager to as many matches as I could afford. Then when I married and had kids the same.
The tickets were probably more available granted but that was because City weren’t the greatest.
But I was in my late 40s before I could afford a season ticket.

We sang Best Team In The Land and all the world for years when we were dogshit so surely that was bullshit too. We still sing We never win at home and we never win away. Have you got an issue with that song too?

Like you say “Until the exchange system came in the empty seats was worse than now” so why bring in Flexi Gold now we have the exchange system? Personally, if that’s the club’s excuse for Flexi Gold then I ain’t buying it. There are other reasons for empty seats too. Here’s one for starters: how about the hundreds and hundreds of tickets ringfenced for hospitality that magically appear back on the planner for some of the lesser games just days in advance of the match? Or selling Burnley’s returned tickets for £61 a pop for that January midweek fixture last season and hardly any fucker snapped them up so the club had to give loads away? Thankfully they learnt their lesson on that one and have since been selling returned away allocations for the same price that the away fans pay.

True, but the increased cost of season tickets (and match tickets in general) have outstripped inflation for several decades. It's trickier to calculate in City's case as we had standing STs, and a big variation in seated ST costs, but the increase is well above inflation for all current categories.
