North Stand Expansion

The athletics track, seats, roof, put temporary screen, stage. Set up the mobile bars and catering around the track.
Possible I suppose, can’t imagine athletes being happy if we used the indoor facility during the winter season, which would be the more logical solution, most athletes train away from the track during winter, so there’s a possibility, it’s definitely doable to set up a large marquee on the grass in the middle of the track, there are toilet blocks around the track too

There’s plenty of room to put a very large marquee/s on the end of Collar site near the bridge for 3 years whilst the North stand is being built.

It could house a new City Square stage, and have plenty of bars and seating indoors for the fans. City already do it for the corporates for CL games. What about the Legacy fans?

If Munich can do it every year just for the Munich Beer Festval, why can’t City do it for a 9 month football season? (because they don’t want to it, that’s why)

Can’t see them doing nothing, that would be very strange, what you’re suggesting is very cost effective & the club will surely not allow a full season of people’s match day routine to change, they’ll want them to continue arriving in plenty of time, visiting the club shop, buying a pint & a pie, welcoming the players etc. I’m normally train in to town, a few beers, get to the ground an hour & half early, have a beer & something to eat outside, then a pint on the concourse. If there’s nothing I’ll probably hang around town a bit longer & City lose a few quid. Have City matters posed the question of any offerings?

Same here. I'm going to try Diecast on a match day. I suspect a lot of City fans heading to the match via the NQ will try it. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but there are plenty of traditional pubs and bars around it. Ancoats Square is just up the road. And there is Cask, etc in New Islington.

The athletics/rugby stadium is a vast, somewhat under utilised asset currently.

Does anyone have any real insight into plans for City to use it during downtime or the construction project ?

Very good public facilities.

It was just the outdoor track/stadium I was on about not the indoor as that is regularly used all year round, whereas the outside might have one, two if any event’s during August & September.

Yeah, that was just me thinking out loud, my daughter was an athlete in her younger years, spent many hours at the track & indoor facility, the outdoor season finishes in September & picks up in the spring, so the opportunity is there, there’s usually no throwing event training in winter, i.e. hammer javelin & shot, so the grass area is free to use

Allocate the grass area for the dippers and rags pre match warm up....then bring on the javelin throwers and putt shotters !!

Sly running two articles on stadium expansions & the future of football viewing via VR etc, it’s actually with Populous so you’d think we’d feature quite heavily or at least get a mention considering they’re involved with the NS & Co op live and other innovations…nah it seems Sly have airbrushed us
