"Not Enough Players!"

What about Razak? Put a bit of faith in the young ones.

Plus, they had 4 days to recover. I'm a bit confused as to why they're so tired after their first midweek game of the season.

You have to be confused, it's not November for God's sake. How they would feel after playing midweek CL games and Liverpool Chelsea and Arsenal on weekends.

Season barely started FGS, no tiredness factor should be introduced yet.
If you play a very intense game - as we did against napoli - it takes days for the body to recover. Doesn't matter whether you are in the middle of the season, or at the beginning

Any amateur sportsman or woman knows not to train the same body part more than twice a week

Look at Utd, Real Madrid, Arsenal. Even Stoke and Birmingham. All lost or played poorly. there are some exceptions eg barcelona, but generally accepted that teams struggle after playing a tough game a few days ago. It's not rocket science to understand why

Back in days when I used to bet I would never bet on any team that played European midweek matches so I understand it could be tricky. But then again if we look at how teams react on it it's still teams like Borussia Dortmund or Tottenham who lose their feet and are not able to catch domestic league-champions league rhythm. The big ones fail here and there but still do the work on the right way most of the time.

We are all talking about City as legitimate contender for league title and brave among us count us as contenders for CL title. If that's something to be considered than Tottenham's last term route should be avoided or we're not going to be contenders for long.

Some on here are as bad as the media, at times.

Try to understand what Bobby ACTUALLY meant with his comments. His English isn't perfect, as we all know, so he struggles to get his point across at times.

By tired he means - Not the required time to recover. NOT PHYSICALLY TIRED.

By not enough players - Meaning not enough COVER in a particular area due to present injuries.

I believe this is what he means.

This is a feeble excuse Roberto we've spent a fortune on players in the past 3 years and professional players should be able to play two games in a week, and if they are tired rotate the team we have a massive squad and young players that should be able to fit in as and when required if not what's the point of an academy. Other teams don't blame fatigue when they lose it's always the same excuse Fulham played in UEFA on thursday night but were up for the fight till the final whistle.

Professional players can play 2 games a week, they can even play a game every day, but for them to be 100% every game they need at least 3 days recovery time after each game.

We played on Wednesday night; that left Thursday, Friday and Saturday between the two games. 3 days.

United have Ferdinand and Vidic out. Do they look shaky in defence?

Just saying.

Also, if we are THAT dependent on De Jong, why is that?

its not the fact we are dependent more the point we dont have quality to replace quality if out injured or to change things second half as proven Sunday!

Friday and Saturday are intense training getting ready for Sunday's game. Only Thursday was the day where they could rest their bodies properly.

The most ridiculous and frankly embarrassing excuse ever.

A dangerous road to start going down imo for Bob and he needs to get his players performing for 90 mins instead of switching off.

We have 23 players and that includes the like of Onohua and Bridge. Who exactly could he have played instead of the two mids yesterday?

Damo stop it, stop it right now.

One of the most expensively assembled squads in world football.

We can not start peddling excuses like this.

We dropped points yesterday because we switched off again and failed to perform for the full 90 mins. Games should have been over by half time again but we failed to put the chances away, again.

Fulham started their season in June and had 24 hours less rest than us this week yet in the second half they are all over us like a rash?

Tiredness and a lack of players.......never!

i agree with the bold.

but to be fair to Mancini he didn't have De Jong, Milner and Hargreaves and when you only have a 23 man squad and a finite number of midfielders as a result it is a fair point.

However we drew yesterday because the players switched off again and quite simply this season we can't defend and we were too square going forward and in the last 2 games I've not seen one of our players take their man on and go past him and run at goal apart from Tevez, it's all pass it sideways and it's too slow and gives teams chance to put 8 behind the ball.

i'm only letting Mancini off because we can't physically play a 4-3-3 with the players we have available, but these players need to get their arses in gear in the 2nd half of these games and buck it up, Vinnie needs to buck his ideas up and show why he's captain and was held in the same category as Vidic last season.

No it's not we played at 3pm on Saturday and 7.30 on weds. That's not quite 3 days more like 2 and 3/4 days. So not quite enough rest.

Oh come on just trying to lighten things up!!

De jong,Milner are injured and Hargreaves aint ready yet is what you'll find was Bobs agenda..

The word is that hargreaves may play on wednesday - if thats the case surely he was fit enough to be on the bench on Sunday.

Ultimately Bobby manages the squad and he should have one big enough to compete with fulham when they have also played a midweek game.

Worry for me is when we lose control of games in midfield we don't seem to have a plan / the players to get hold of the game again - happened in the Charity shield and against napoli. Our players need to focus on what they are good at - let the defenders and holding players get the ball then concentrate on keeping possesion and frustrating the oposition whilst creating chances.

Nasri needs to get involved more when the going gets tough
