whats your real opinion on Hughes?

On here I post like im 100% behind the guy. It just annoys me when you get these hysterical posts calling for the heads of Hughes, Cook ,Dunnie etc. So i react as an ardent supporter and try and put across the positives about the game.

But to be honest, although i think we should give Hughes at least till next season, i wouldn't be to upset if i woke up tomorrow and he had been sacked.

However I like Hughes as a manager, and although many on here don't, i like his man management style. I cant be arsed with pre-madonna footballers who want to take the piss and if anyone can change that mentality then its Hughes. The trouble is, doing it this way means its going to get worse before it gets better (which is evident of our current displays) but given time and a few new faces brought in by Hughes then this type of man management could turn our club into a real force, like that tosser did at the swamp.

All you are saying is that you ant the rag out. Let me ask you this would you be happy for city to keep the rag if that meant getting relagated. Yes or no answer required.
The trouble is most City fans want instant success, and with Hughes that isn't going to happen.

people automatically blame the manager but some of the players simply are not good enough

this form now is a continuation of the poor form in the second half of the season.....sven started to build a side but only got the job half done...he added creativity and a bit of style (albeit very slow) to our game....

MH needs time to develop the team

look at the 1st team squad...there are a large number of players not upto standard

vass
hamman
gelson?
benjani
ball
garrido (just my opinion and i know people will disagree)
dunne...just to hit and miss
caceido
tbh
evans
Jo?????????????????

really Mh is only responsible for one fo those players.......TBH though it could be argues he had the last word on Jo

You could see it in hammans face and reaction last night...he knows that a lot of those players on their last night are simply not good enough.....he was so frustrated.....partly probably with himself but also his reaction to evans and TBH at points told it all..

I was thinking during the game, especially during the second half which I got to watch on TV when I remembered I actually get GOLTV(dumb ass), while watching Hamman's face and his reactions, that I think he knows his time is pretty much done. I just felt his career end during that game, for him at least. He'll hang on as long as he can, keep earning that paycheck, and doing the little he can. But I just got the feeling from him that he figured out his career is over. It was sad, because you could see how badly he wanted to be effective out there, he had a pass or two that was very nice, but the speed has just passed him by and he knows it. I feel bad for the guy. I hear he was really effective once but never saw it personally.

one of bluemoons best ever posts.
i feel exactly the same way, i dont want to be putting up with this any more than the next guy but we have to be patient.
very well said ramsdale.

I really don't know what to think. When he was appointed I thought it was the right choice, infact i'd have had him before he went to Blackburn instead of Pearce. He had good records with Wales and Blackburn and I expected him to get the best out of the players we had. However after the last 2 or 3 games I've got more and more dejected. I'm still not sure if the management is crap or the players aren't interested due to expecting to be gone in January. I still believe a manager needs a full season and want to see the shape of the team after January. Saying that though, the run of games between now and end of January aren't the most taxing with the team we have got, thus if we're still around the lower reaches of the table come the end of Jan then it seriously needs looking at.

The questions, that can only in reality be answered by those inside the club with everyday contact are:
- Has he lost the dressing room, if he has then you've got to cut your losses and he has to go.
- If it's only a couple of players causing issues, then they need to be binned and hughes left in charge.
- Can he manage big name star players?
- Can we get someone in to replace him now or not? If so, who?

I personally think he'll be out in the summer unless things drastically change around.

Good to have a proper convesational thread on this topic anyway without it turning into pathetic name calling and internet fighting!

I partly agree with you but ask yourself how many players at Hull are any better than the ones you list?Any manager can blame the players he inherits for his problems-but he just has to get on with it.Rednapp has transformed Spuds since he took over...why?He's working with the same players Ramos was!!
And I'm pretty sure that fat sam will get better results than Ince at Blackburn!

I'm just not convinced by Hughes, his man-management or his tactics but I'd love to be totally wrong...

Well pointed out. This point seems to have passed the Hughes brigade by. Quality wise there's plenty of teams worse than us and nearly all of them are doing better than us! To me, Sunday is Hughes D-Day. He has to get it right or he must go. We need a releagtion battle like a hole in the head.......

It didn't bother me he was a rag and I thought, seeing what he did at Blackburn, that he would be a good manager for us after the diabolical end to last season (not just the 8-1).

Halfway into the season and he has not impressed me. We have gone from a diabolical end to last season to a diabolical start to this one, 18 points from 17 games is relegation form and 3 managers have already gone who had similar (albeit worse) starts to the season. We've spent £70m assuming Jo was £20m (debatable) and brought in mainly good signings but why is it only the new signings (with the exception of Stevie) who seem to be performing.

Even getting into the last 32 of the EUFA cup we have been lucky. Apart from the Schalke game I've not been impressed with our games in Europe and feel we've qualified on a wing and a prayer. Qualified by a fluky deflection and penalties vs the Midgets, not convincing against Omonia (ffs their most expensive player was a £500k signing), PSG could easily have done us over at COMS if they'd played their 2 main strikers from the start, dicked by Sanandar and I missed the Twente game. We will never win the UEFA cup unless we move up about 10 gears from how we have played so far.

Imo he has the next three games to start to impress, if we don't start picking up points and moving up the table then I don't see him ever being successful and taking us where we want to be. I can see me joining the "Hughes Out" brigade soon if he doesn't get this team playing like they should given the calibre of players we have.

Before anyone goes on about injuries, look at our fucling squad - can you honestly say even with injuries we have a worse squad than Hull, Stoke, Bolton, Wigan, Fulham, Boro who are all above us atm in the league table.

did you see hamans face during the game i imagine thats how id look after 5 mins of 5 a side he looked f-cked

I was an ardent supporter of the appointment. I thought it would be good for the club to have a manager with a backbone, who has transfer nouse and had a seemingly crap team performing consistently well.

While I still hold on to that, I have to admit I am finding it more and more difficult to stick up for the man, especially as the 'team' performances seem to be getting worse.

I viewed last night as an opportunity for fringe players to get in there, play their hearts out and prove to the manager that they are capable of being kept around once the new players start to roll in. Apart from a couple of exceptions they failed in my eyes, terrible performance. Havent decided if thats down to the manager or the players yet TBH...

We have got to improve, and fooking fast.
