Oasis reunion

Twickets have agreed to lower their fee to a maximum of 10% booking fee + 1% transaction fee capped at a maximum of £25 per ticket.

Saw one tweet of someone charged nearly £150 in fees earlier today.

I'm not sure how adding more shows "makes it up" to fans who paid much higher prices for inflated "in-demand" ticket prices on Saturday. I guess that line in the article is reserved for those that didn't get any the first time around. Also, at least those still in the market won't be caught off guard the next time if/when/once they see prices much higher than they were expecting to see in their cart.

I never got that far in the process (hello, "Queue"), but I sure as hell won't and wouldn't be paying those "in demand" prices.

We also know the resellers (scalpers), bots, and thieves will ALWAYS be in the market, so you can expect more of the same if/once more shows get announced.

Once I read in the article linked above that Oasis "has a plan" for this, I was reminded of Mike Tyson's famous line: "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."

Enough fans who have felt like being punched may or may not be back for more. My thought on that comes from the "fool me once, fool me twice" proverb. Don't think I'd be back for more on this.
Maybe it’s a master plan …

Have I got this right? The only people who got tickets at the 'standard' prices were people in the presale on Friday? Everyone else had to pay dynamic prices? Is my understanding correct or off?

i could imagine Liam being p1ssed off about it but doubt Noel gives a t0ss. Just a very small vox pop on this mornings work call had someone saying they got Edinburgh tickets at face value with only an hours wait, looks like the Heaton Park tickets were the most "in demand" so local fans of the group have paid the highest price with this dynamic thievery.

How could you come to this conclusion unless you know them personally?
Noel himself constantly goes on about “give him the money” Noel said…”he sees every fan as a five pound note
I’ve never heard Liam demand, give him the cash I don’t know either of them but heard their interviews
This aged well
Thats the price Heaton Park jumped to when we got to the check out. 355 pound none of us got a ticket.
I’m happy the BBC said the government are looking into ticketmasters price hike completely out of order to double the price after advertising £135

If the brothers have been promised £50m each, why would they care about ticket pricing?

Surely they’ve just given the green light for Ticketmaster to maximise their profits through agreeing to dynamic pricing.

Maybe the difference between Sheeran’s approach and Oasis is that Sheeran wants to keep touring for years and Oasis kind of know this is the last hurrah?

Kinda my gut feeling and why I was always going to make the journey for any reunion.
I don’t believe the comeback will last much longer than however long a world tour takes.

I’m going to ignore all the outside noise until nearer the time and just go and have a belting couple of weeks.

As it should be for all fans really, but people hate the feeling of being ripped off.

This news will die down and the excitement will build for the actual concerts when the time comes.

They built their careers on not giving a fuck, so they probably don’t now either.

From what I have heard, about 50% of people that bought them at general sale got them at the starting price, before it went up.

No because Ticketmaster don’t get the ticket money, either from the fixed price nor the dynamic pricing . They are just the middle men that sell the tickets and get paid from the booking fee.I don’t know that they were offered any fixed fee by anyone.

I was on most of the day for Edinburgh with no joy

I think the way it works is the promoter (SJM) guarantees the artist a certain figure (rumoured to be £50m each).

I think it's standard for promoters to base this guaranteed figure on selling 80% of the tickets at the standard rate.

Then any sales above that are split between the promoter and the artist (I think the split percentages vary).

So it seems what's happened is, SJM have sold 80% of the tickets at the £150 rate to guarantee the advance to the band, and have then absolutely creamed the remaining 20%, maximising their own profits.

Maybe @Johnny Mars Bar could clarify, but broadly speaking, I'm pretty sure that's how the industry works.

Pretty sure the band and their management are complicit, but likely driven by SJM and facilitated by Ticketmaster.

One, or all of them should have been transparent about this strategy from the start, because millions wouldn't have wasted all day waiting in a queue had they known the prices had doubled.

I think the dynamic pricing does need looking at as it's preying on people's desperation and banking on the idea that people who've patiently waited in the queue for hours will panic and pay an amount they weren't expecting. Obvs nobody is forced to pay it but as a business practice it lacks transparency and is unethical.

It's as much on the management and the band as it is on ticketmaster though. They sign off on all of this in return for bigger advances and guarantees. I've worked for a similarly big band and they could stop it if they want to.

Even if dynamic pricing disappears they'll find other ways to rip people off. You have Live Nation shows in the US where tickets are advertised at face value but then you literally can't buy a ticket without buying a compulsory parking permit (even if you arent driving there). So long as bands turn a blind eye to it and people keep paying it, it won't stop.

The booking fee is a percentage though. 10% of £350 is more than 10% of £150, so they do get a higher fee.

Be interesting to see if Noel still stand with the normal fans in the away end after this shitshow, he didn’t at West Ham but he could get dogs abuse if he does.
