Oasis reunion

then reduction of demand would bring the ticket price down. I think the whole idea of dynamic pricing for tickets should be outlawed.

Let’s be honest, it’s not dynamic pricing, it’s price gouging. The capacity of the venue is already set.

Ultimately though, enough people were still willing to pay top whack. I’m glad I wasn’t part of the melee as it’s way beyond justifiable for me for a single gig but anyone that has paid silly amounts, I really hope they enjoy it and they feel they get their moneys worth.

That is the one that got me. They were quite coy about how much the tickets cost.
The surge pricing wasted a lot of time for a lot of people.
The artists use Ticketmwaster as cover for what they want to do anyway. I can see it from their point of view. Why sell the prices for say 150 when they are selling on stubhub etc for 300 to 400? That money should be going to the artists.

There havent released a record for years - so how could they isolate who their 'true' fans are?
They know from the DM tour that Liam just finished Co op live was worth the money he went to a lot of trouble to make the show worth it for fans Standing in a public park is not the same.
They know from record sales Liam and Noel both know who the true fans are. They have fan clubs as well
Oasis put out a statement any resale tickets for more than face value would be cancelled laughable because they don’t mind the official site doubling the price.

I wonder if Coop Live, CFG and OVG will start using dynamic pricing for tickets?
It’s inevitable.

I was looking at the Arsenal game to see how much tickets are. £77 in most areas and £49 for kids. No tickets showing yet but that’s what they will be. Won’t be long before it’s £100 a ticket for the big games.

Totally agree.
I understand the capitalist concept of supply and demand, but there is something fundamentally wrong about about offering a product such as entertainment at a price and basically putting it out for auction to your audience instead of at face value.

Oh for the days of queuing up at HMV for a paper ticket with a definite price on it.

Think about where this goes if we accept this. Wait for Spotify or AppleMusic to do the same when you want to listen to your favourite bands.
Instead of your €6.99 a month they start saying, sorry Oasis are very popular this month, that’ll cost you €36.99

There goes the music threads in here for a start. ;-)

I got stung by 'dynamic pricing' for Springsteen at Murrayfield last year. It was the only chance I had and I went for it and then was fucked off with the quality of view I got for the premium seat. It was my fault and I won't do it again but it really is sharp practice as they know exactly what they are doing.

A one way practise, if a gig is selling slowly or not going to sell out they dont reduce the price.

They've sold their entire souls just for a few more quid when they're already very wealthy by most people's standards. When they 'represent" an area where many live from hand to mouth.
The merchandise will bring in millions more anyway. The mard arses.

Is Class War still going?

There's a superb Mancunian band featuring two brothers who never fall out and the band never split up, and tickets are always available at reasonable prices when they tour.
Here It Comes, and they are big Man City fans as well!
There is also no drop off in quality between their debut and recent albums.
Give The Slow Readers Club a go

Doves *

* their band went on hiatus until 2020, but the brothers put out music together during that time. An "Age Of Innocence" indeed.

They've probably got PR people telling them exactly how to handle this. Say nothing will maybe be the strategy. Wait for some other news to wipe this off the front page.

I don't think they have sold their souls. I think they have behaved how 99% of people with their background would have.
I come from Newton Heath and probably have a similar background and upbringing to the Gallaghers (Newton Heath is a lot more destitute than Burnage).
I guarantee that the vast, vast majority of uneducated people, from working class backgrounds, in Manchester, who have grown up with nothing, would have screwed everyone for as much as they can get. Just like the Gallaghers have.
They will sort their mates out and fuck everyone else. I have seen this attitude on a far smaller scale, every single day of my life.
How the Gallaghers have behaved is exactly how I would have expected them to behave. They have not sold out.
They are not middle class, educated intellectuals, like Tony Wilson, who believe in a grand utopia. Wilson died because he could not afford the cancer treatments which may have extended his life. All because of his moral crusade and beliefs. He could have been a very rich man.
The Gallaghers have ensured nothing like that will ever happen to them. I don't blame them for that. They have just taken advantage of the system. It's the system which is wrong and that needs regulating.
Whether you believe how the Gallaghers have behaved is right or wrong, is irrelevant . For me, they have behaved exactly how I would have expected. You can take the boy out of Manchester.

20 years ago, everyone loved the fact that the Gallaghers did not give up a fuck. Now that people have realised that it is not an act and they really do not give a fuck, people are up in arms as the attitude they all loved has now cost them a lot of money.

I think the dymanic pricing is just a smokescreen in a way. They have been guaranteed a significant amount and the ticket revenues have to secure this. If they didnt do dynamic/variable pricing. they would just have to put the flat rate prices up to get the same money.
What annoys me is the lack of clarity on pricing - just tell people beforehand it will be dynamic. (How many million man hours were wasted on Saturday morning? Never mind people that wanted to use Ticketmaster for non-Oasis purposes).
The other matter that is getting smotherered by the dynamic pricing discussion is the fees. They are effectively part of the ticket price so should be disclosed.

Am not a fan of Oasis but happy for people who have got tickets (I know loads). My main concern is where this will lead in other events.
