No mention (denial) of negotiations (lets just call them discussions) involving Villa's agent (Jose Luis Tamargo) though.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

'we're not negotiating' doesn't mean they haven't been in touch. It suggests they have a price and are not going to budge on it.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

i wish we would just threaten barca that if they dont sort eto'o coming to us immediatly we will go for villa, i recon that would have him signed before day end

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Barca have an agenda and seem to be saying whatever it suits them to say about this situation. I'm surprised they don't just shut up and get on with it.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

main problem that Valencia now face is that there is only Barca that Villa wants to go to, when Madrid bought Benzema it screwed them.

doesn't matter if we bid 60mil as he obviously has no interest in leaving Spain - this is one that Laporta will "win" as he now holds the aces.

shame really as Villa imo is well worth £40/50mil and they won't get anywhere near that from Barca.

Wouldn't that consitute an illegal approach from Barca, if case if his previously statement about the clubs have not spoken, he would be going berserk and calling barcelona a bunch of twats

They'll probably get about 35. I read somewhere that they had a 25mil budget, add to that the money from Eto'o (minus his loyalty bonus).

I have no idea what's going on. I wouldn't trust any of this lot under oath.

"With regards to whether Barcelona have met with Villa and his agent, Llorente replied "that I will find out when I meet people directly".

Sure. As if he doesn't know.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

graham hunter (i know) mentioned on ssn earlier he expects madrid to go 4 silva next. if that were the case would valencia still have to sell vill?, considering they've already off loaded albiol as well

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

The goal article is refering to this

"Valencia is not negotiating or has negotiated anything with Barcelona at all," Llorente said, when asked about the possible transfer of David Villa at club azulgrana.

The president 'Che' refused to make any comment, however, a meeting between Raul and Txiki Begiristain Sanllehi with the representative of Villa in Asturias, but left sensing that he had not liked: "That I am to see if people directly, "he said.

"They're very appealing players in international football and it is not uncommon for teams wishing important," he concluded.

That's from Sport.es

It simply means Barcelona haven't formally made an offer to Valencia. Without sounding like Gulliem Balague, Barcelona won't make an offer until they reach some form of agreement with Eto'o as they can't offer a definitive amount of money without assurances of receiving a fixed amount from us.

For example it's been reported that Barca have around 25m euros to spend. They cannot offer 40m euros to Valencia for Villa as they don't have the money to do so. So until something happens on the Eto'o front, they can't do much unless they find money from somewhere just like Real have. They also want to sign (if spanish press are to be believed) Mascherano and Luis (defender from deportivo) for a combined cost of around 35m euros. This is why they are holding out on Eto'o

Nobody needs to worry about the article. It's been very well documented in both Catalan newspapers that Villa has had an informal meeting in a restaurant with Txiki Begiristain which apparently went 'much smoother than dealing with Eto'o' and i think Barca are expecting Villa to say he wants to move to Barca. That alone may knock his price down a little bit given that Barca are the only club they can really sell to.

Villa will most likely go to Barca and then we will have Eto'o. Perfect for all parties...which is something Laporta seemed to be bleating on about before - 'we will do what is best for both parties (Eto'o+Barca).

Yes. There debt is bigger than the rags' I think.

I doubt Real would go for Silva, unless thy fail in the signing of Ribery.

Shakespeare could distinguish between there and their.
