Hope so. Would kill myself if he went to United. I am just a bit worried the Rags might want to pay big money for him. If they do, that's us out of question and Eto'o on his way to Old Trafford. Sooooo lets hope they don't come in for him :)
It doesn't matter. They will probably pa him around 110k a week. What would he want to do, come to a club in the building process or a club established for alot less money. I did hear somewhere that he'd go to United for less money. I hope that's not true though. Just hope he signs quickly before United can react.

IF THE RAGS WANNA PAY BIG MONEY FOR HIM WHY DOES THAT MEAN WERE OUT OF THE QUESTION???? JUST INCASE YOU'VE BEEN SOMEWHERE FOR THE PAST 12 MONTHS, CITY GOT TOOK OVER BY A SHEIK WHO FRONTS A CORPORATION CALLED ADUG, HE 1 OF IF NOT THE WEALTHIEST PERSON(S) IN THE WORLD!!!! AND EVEN THAT £80 MILLION THEY GOT FOR TRANNY WONT EFFECT WHAT WE CAN DO! IF IT DID COME DOWN TO MONEY THERE IS ONLY 1 WINNER! sorry about shouting
Is it really about money? Every footballer at this minute would go to United. Might be a different case in 3/4 years. I just think if United came in, with quite good wages (100-120k a week) he will go to United. Hope your right and i hope he is ALL about the money.

Thing is though, if they enter the race, it won't be about money, it will be about the liklihood of adding a few Premiership medals to his already swollen trophy cabinet. Don't like to admit it, but it the harsh reality of the situation. Tranny or not, Owen or not.....Taggart always gets it right in the end.

Just been on talksport that the Rags will try and persuade Eto'o to sign for them. Looks like they don't want to be embarassed by us again :-/

That was a personal opinion of a presenter with no evidence to back it up.

Please get your facts right.

What Eto'o?

Its complete garbage anyway and nobody should be worried. They cant afford to spend mega money on a player over 26. we all know that. A free transfer for a 29 year old poses low risk but plenty of comedic value.

You're speaking about a player who reportedly would have joined an Uzbek club for the money!

Yes, but we have been here all our lives and United have always been the better and bigger side. Footballers look back at a career looking at how many medals they have won, rather than how much money they have earnt. To rule United completely out of the picture is arrogance from the new-born city supporter.

We will have to hope the Rags do not come in, because that could make it very very difficult for us, even if they don't have as much money to pay him.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

He would be attracted to united like Benzema, Ribery have been.... whats that they aren't getting them! United aren't the force they use to be so go and flap about United coming in elsewhere because last time I checked they had spend there £80mil on...... the free transfer of Owen!!!!!!!!!!

Get real, United won't allow themselves to be humiliated by us, they will not enter this race ffs

Here i am again bringing you more news in the form of translations from john over on mancityfans this time.

"Although he is on holiday, Samuel Eto'o is in permanent contact with Jose Maria Mesalles so as to be informed of the latest news about his future and know first hand how the negotiations are panning out. The Cameroon frontman is spending a few days in the US, New York to be precise, in the expectation of finally having confirmed which will be his destination City when the negotiations end and the football returns

"Aunque se encuentra de vacaciones, Samuel Eto’o se mantiene en contacto permanente con José María Mesalles para estar informado de las últimas noticias en torno a su futuro y saber de primera mano cómo se resuelven las negociaciones. El delantero camerunés está pasando unos días en Estados Unidos, en concreto en Nueva York, a la espera de que finalmente le confirmen cuál será su ciudad de destino cuando finalice las vacaciones y regrese a la práctica del fútbol"

Woo hoo.

Cue three ETIHAD 747s of manchester city shirt wearing tourists given free fights to New York for the weekend.

What a stupid thing to say!!! I ain't going to get into a debate about what united have won, who they are and what people may be delusional to believe they are not anymore. It's very straight forward.... if united come in and offer him a bi less than us, he'll pick them. I hope i'm wrong, but I doubt it cos like I said before, as much as I hate to admit it...Taggart never gets it wrong.

Tranny has left for a bigger club. Benzema has joined that bigger club and Ribery wants to go to Spain. How is that the same as comparing us and Utd.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

Sorry, but I am not the one basing the whole Eto'o to Rags arguement on the unfounded claims of a Rag journalist.

Maybe, but if it was a chance, at that time, of the Uzbeki team or United on a little less money, he would have gone to united 10 times out of 10.

Citizens1976 - thats what i'm saying. He would pick them over us each and every day of the week.
Agree. I hope we can do this deal quickly.

I know what u said is stupid and last time I checked United don't spend money on players over a certain age due to resale value, hence why Owen happened as it was a free transfer

in a sense I have to agree, it's stupid to underestimate United. We can be encouraged by what appears to be their dwindling fortunes but it does us no favours to count our chickens before they've hatched and go writing them off, in any respect.

Agree, i think he'd want to play in the champions league. If he goes to utd, that would be the worst thing ever.
