Official Match Thread | Sunderland vs City 14th March

"Football" teams like Sunderland (even with all the money spent, still a rugby team) relish a pitch like this with their "hard man" players to scrap and fight, just the sort of environment we cannot play in (Stoke, etc.). Can't play football on this pitch and long ball not working either, so what will we do?

There's two halves. Wouldn't be the first time Mancini turned things around with half-time adjustments.

So we may lose this match. So what? We still have a decent run that could secure us 4th place.

I think the problem is, because we have a good chance of playing CL next year, and that this has been the best season we've had in...well, God knows how long...that people think we're now immortal. If we want to become a top flight club, we're not going to gain that status by destroying everything in our sight. Mistakes will be inevitable, but we're learning.

Stop blaming the pitch, Sunderland are managing to string together more than 3 passes, if our gameplan was to bypass the pitch by hoofing it long for Tevez to challenge in the air then there's a far more serious problem than our performance today.

this first half has scored well on the 'forehead slapometer'. After a slow start the self harming steadily increased, to the rate of 5fsm (forehead slaps per minute).

if the 2nd half continues in this same level of ineptitude, then the record of 525 face slaps dating back to the Alan Ball era, may well be beaten!!!
