Old Rock Stars

Your original post spot on imho and experience.
Tribute bands are less expensive to get tickets for, play in smaller venues, much better deal.
I always said if one of my fav bands Genesis reformed with Gabriel singing that he just wouldnt be able to sing the tunes properly - they are plenty of G tribute bands (Musical Box etc) who perform them much better.
It is most noticeable when it comes to the singer; saw 70 yr old Richie Blackmore recently - he cant solo like he did, but the quality of the tunes was so good, and he had a new singer in, so it was much like watching a Purple/Rainbow tribute band anyway.
Agree re The Musical Box.one of the best gigs ive ever been to.A Canadian band reinterpreting the best of the Gabriel years, saw them 10 or12 years ago.brilliant.
More recently Lizzie and the Banshees ,a scottish Siouxsie tribute are absolute quality, id recommend them to anyone into that post punk/new wave era.

Xiphos Marc Bolans money is tied up in offshore accounts in the Bahamas I believe , nobody knows who benefits from it apparently.

Aaahh right, just assumed it would be straight forward royalties, cheers:)

Worth catching are Think Floyd and also surprisingly good are Manc Floyd.
The Aussie Floyds are good but Britfloyd ( which was formed by an ex-member of the Aussies, because he thought they could be more accurate) are uncannily like the real band.
Seen them in some decent venues and they are a must for all Floyd fans.

Wonder what Marc Bolan would be like today if he had not met an untimely early death, his family must still be making millions with all his tunes used in adverts on TV

He'd be ridiculed like any one famous alive today.

Internet generation gives platform to millions of jealous haters, surprisingly though it's the older generation who seem to be the bitter trolls.

Show respect you heathens and bend of the knee.
This is the nearest you will ever get to god like entities.

Of course folk slow down rapidly when they are in their seventies.
It's a biological thing and they mean you no harm.
I have never seen as much energy from old codgers in all my days.

Anderson from the leafy shires of Accrington is in his 74th year and Howe has hit the seventies.
Wakeman is fast aproaching.

Are Howes digits as nimble as they once were.
Is Andersons vocalistic prowess as sharp as Reading 75.
They were inducted into the great halls of fame because of their magnificent gift to the world of Music.
When I go to watch older bands I tend to factor in age dementia hip displasia and arthuritus.
Don't you ?

OK OK lets get this over with as quick as we can.
Wheel those pensioner types out to entertain the critics.
Even Melody Maker Sounds and whistling Bob were not this demanding.

Hall of fame 2017

lol, his voice was always ragged live. Mutt Lange played a massive role in their rise to popularity didnt he?

Have you heard his side band, the Down n' Outz? Basically a Mott and Mott The Hoople tribute, and for me his voice suits those songs WAY better than his Lepp's 'screech'.
