He's done a great job and adapted well to the left back position , dont forget his natural game is midfield , but today was possibly his worst game for the club , not sure why Pep kept him on when he was struggling , apparently Cancelo can also play on the left back and at 3-0 he could have brought him on and take Zinchenko out of the firing line. A fully fit Mendy is a better player but the question is how long can he stay fit , but i am not hanging Zinchenko out to dry , he's a valuable squad player.
Cancelo looked even worse when he came on last week.. he may need more time.

He played as though his head wasn't 100% on the game. Difficult to know why but complacency would appear to be the most obvious reason. A combination of no competition on him and 'its only Brighton'

As much as I like the lad I don`t see him as a long term solution.Gives the ball away far too often for my liking and something a midfielder (his normal position) should not be doing.
I can honestly see us in for a top drawer left back next season, especially if Mendy continues with his disastrous injuries.

I don’t think he is a long-term solution, just that we were comfortable for the foreseeable whilst we recover our ‘hopefully’ long-term left back and bed in our deputy.

So who would you play LB for the rest of the season? gen Q
I said in a post above that he's our regular starter because he's the best we've got at the moment. (perhaps).

I expect Mendy will start ahead of Zinchenko if he can only get fit. He isn't a lot better at defending but at least he's a genuine threat going forward.

Not sure you can judge a player on a couple of minutes , i was lucky enough to watch Colin Bell when he arrived for a ridiculous expensive £45k from Bury , and he was shite for the 1st six / seven games , but it worked out OK in the end :)

Doubt that he will be allowed to continue if " complacency " is a problem. Pep doesn't allow it- watch him as the game is taking place.

Didn't think he played that badly, but I don't know what he was playing at trying to make a pass that definitely wasn't there, needed to of just settled down

I'd need to see TV coverage of full game but I thought much of Zinchenko's play was good; there were some errors but his pass completion wasn't horrendous at 88% and he made the most passes. Some of his interplay with Silva in the first half when he was on our side was excellent and his ball to put Silva in behind on the first goal was exquisite.

That pass that got picked off was, I think, a case of him changing his mind in response to where he was originally going to play it. I think Brighton closed the gap he was going to go for while he was already starting the movement to pass the ball and he was forced to change the angle, unsuccessfully. Anyhow, I don't think it was all down to poor play on Zinchenko's part: I think Brighton defended the situation well. Also, the ball is lost in the final third due to him trying to make a killer pass. You would normally expect City to close the opponent down before he strides from the edge of his box into our half of the pitch. Then Ayme just gets it wrong. Unfortunate.
