Think that if he goes as a LB for Arsenal he'll be exposed defensively

Think as a LWB or a midfielder he'll be a good singing for them

£35mil would be a great deal for us

hahaha lol. he is as good a left back as delph that is about it.

A silly comment. By the end of delph’s brief stint there he had cost us an fa cup due to a red card and was a walking accident.

Zinchenko doesn’t play like a left back so people write him off as one. His quick release one touch football from that position is phenomenal.

People need to stop seeing our football through 4–4-2 lenses.

Please read, ONE of the best. While we're on the subject, who do think was better ? Kolarov, Delph ? Personally I think they couldn't lace Zinc's boots for technical ability and positional sense going forward. I will give you Clichy, now he was a very good left back, probably the best overall.

I get that, unfortunately Clichy overstayed his welcome by about 2 seasons and was one of about 6 players who downed tools for pellegrini.

OMG the sheik must be skint!!

How many £££ worth of players have we sold in 2022? All most the same as what he bought the club for!

Sorry I couldn’t help myself, just visualising the headlines in the Red tops!!!!
Nah, he’s won everything else domestically, so he’s going for the big one this summer.

The net spend trophy.

I’ve heard that we are looking to replace him. But what are we replacing. A second choice left back or midfielder. I mean no slight on Zinchenko but what position are we looking at as we are already looking at the left spot position before he was looking to leave.

I’m guessing you never saw Willie Donachie play for City, mate.

first of all you can't use one off the for anything. one off indicates he is in a small class. I am pretty sure if you take a look at any off serviceable full backs of city before 2000's along with Kolarov, Delph and Clichy they would all still be better than Zinc. because being a defender implies you need defensive skills which is non existent with Zinc.

I cant remember last week let alone all those games. I take your point. You have to admit quite often he tends to change the game in a positive way, we have more control of the game and peps up our attack. Extremely tidy player, hardly ever gives the ball away and loves to go forward. I agree it wasn't his best game against West Ham but he was up against a very good young talent in Bowen.
Like I've said he's done alright, he's been a good squad player for us.

I doubt we will miss him but that's not a slight on the guy. You don't need to overdo his involvement at the club. Someone posted saying he's been vital for our league titles, he hasn't, he hasn't come on regularly and changed the game single handedly.

For the role he had he's done alright and for a club with our ambitions he should be proud of what he's achieved.

You wouldn’t be “totally disrespecting him and devaluing him as a person” would you?

See this thread is turning into the usual mess when it comes to a player potentially leaving.

Just because someone dons our blue shirt, it doesn't make them a world beater. As much as I love Zin he never was a full back and playing him there caused us problems defensively.

For me, and our style of play, the list of who id be gutted to see leave from last season's squad are:

Eddie
Walker
Stones
Dias
Phil
Bernado
Kev

These guys are world class, irreplaceable in my eyes.

Raz, Ake, Jesus, Zin, Laporte, Mahrez etc are replaceable

It is interesting, how many total toolballs, hung up on the fact that zinchenko used to be a midfielder and therefore 'hasn't been a good left back for us', are unleashing their stuck-in-their-ways bile on this thread.

It is fine, I remember post-match thread, after post-match thread, after post-match thread, where a fair few that actually watch football got to say, what an outstanding performance by Zinch, arguing whether he or someone else deserved man of the match, pointing out what a difference he made.

I remember us sitting in 9th at new year, and Pep bringing him back into the sterting 11 once he realised fannying about with inverted FBs didnt work out, and us going on a 20-something winning run, storming to the league title. Something zinchenko made The biggest difference to, and many of us noted it.

Which makes me realise, there are plenty sensible people out there, eventhough the semi-clueless fuds that just want to be critics because they once said something negative and now they have to live by it, are currety louder on this one thread.

I'm ok with that.

If you take what a not insignificant number on here write on match and post match threads, you need professional help. An awful lot of them are knee jerk reactions to a less than dazzling performance. I particularly remember during and after the game at Palace last season. Christ, it's like people choose to forget just what this team is capable of. If it was up to me, I'd bin those threads. But that's a no-no.

The article is more about City's hunt for a left back, but Martin Blackburn does say Zinchenko is off to Arsenal for 30 million.
