Ouija Board Experiences

We had a family friend who messed about with the ouija board.

He was found hanged in his garage and his mum always blamed his obsession with the board.

There are lots of similar example recorded of using a ouija board having a deep psychological effect sometimes leading to tragic consequences. However, that only proves what they believed happened, not what actually happened. It is tragic though that someone would be so affected as to take their own life.

My sister and her friends used to mess with it, I saw her in the morning having a laugh I said `anyone been in touch` she said her mate was trying to get in touch with her fiance who had committed suicide years before, he had wanted to be a priest so it was flying in the face of all he was supposed to hold dear (life) when this tragic episode happened suddenly and no explanation was given, you can imagine how grief stricken this girl was, and still looking for answers years later, my sis said the glass went mad flying around the board and they shit themselves but managed to scrabble some letters down before throwing the lights on, in their panic and nervousness they could`nt decipher anything from the letters, she gave me the paper with the letters on and I kept glancing at them on the car seat going to work, when it jumped out at me, with one letter spare it read, "I AM GAY" ....... Rang my sis soon as I got to work and she said that must be the explanation.

I do`nt believe all this mumbo jumbo and would probably put it down to auto suggestion, there are parts of our brain though that scientists do`nt understand the function of even in this day and age, maybe parts of it ARE connected to another dimension we ca`nt explain ? Like exile I have had frightening experiences that most people would suggest were a dream, I`m sure it was`nt !!!

did you just come out of the closet then
r.sole did I insult you in a previous life ;)

strange though that darwins THEORY of evolution is now taught as fact even though darwin himself admiited it was a theory, if you take consensus of opinion of the six biilion people on earth how many believe in something spriitual?

That's a different debate altogether (religion) although I acknowledge it links to this discussion. Darwin called it a theory because he couldn't prove it whereas science has proved his theory to the extent that it is now accepted fact. (outside of creationists whose beliefs fly in the face of all available evidence). Darwin didn't even publish his theory for several years as he believed (rightly) that he would upset people whose beliefs were predicated on creationism and spirituality.

This boils down to whether you believe in Science and evidence or supposition and belief. As you can tell I am firmly in the former camp. I like evidence and facts, though theories are fine as long as they are supported by more than just anecdotes.
to me this is the problem there could be endless possibilities about life universe etc people argue if it is god or the big bang but who is to say that there isnt another reason, people see ghosts, paranormal as the evidence of god and science sees things like carbon dating, fossils, evolution as proof of no afterlife, the simple answer is no one knows
who is the luckiest someone who believes when they die its not the end or someone who believes they are maggot food? i dont see the point in trying to covince people of a worse alternative to there happy although maybe incorrect beliefs

I was responding to the OP's request for experiences and opinions. That's what this and other forums are for. I didn't post with the expectation of everyone suddenly changing their minds nor me changing mine. I do always live in hope that I might learn something though.

I remember my mam and sis trying out a Ouija board one night. They set everything out and was about to start when the dog a springer spaniel started growling. Then went mental attacking the table the Ouija was on ,he would'nt let them set it up again or carry on so they gave up maybe he sensed somthing they did'nt !!

Or just wanted attention and didnt like everyone focusing on a board. My dog used to do that with Trivial Pursuit.
