I don't want them.

Give me 40,000 real fans and 8,000 empty seats any day.

Hate glory hunters, always have at United and not gonna change now we're getting some.

Fortunately your view doesn't count for jack. Do you think our owner doesn't want to see us self sufficient or would you rather he kept putting cash in to spare your sensibilities, oh and the small case of ffp, not to mention how cool it will be when we can do that.

Many countries dont treat football like we do, like its mentioned the Spanish go now, they like good football and since they are at uni here we play some of the best in the land, seems reasonable to me they come to watch.
Casual fans do not eat sleep drink footy like many of us do, but find it a great pastime. When im in the USA and go to sports event there for example, you get welcomed warmly and non of the hardcore fans they have say a bad word (they are more interested in chanting for the team they support not worrying about others).

I welcome them myself, i consider myself a proper fan but would welcome chatting with say a barca fan who chose to come and watch us play because he was studying here say.

If you can understand some people treat it as a nice thing but not needed for them to exist then you will see they are not such a bad proposition especially if they support us, buying a city mug or scalf, it all helps.

Absolutely 100% mate...As I previosuly stated any race/religions money is as good as mine when they are buying mugs/tops/flags/tickets etc...Against Napoli I saw literally hundreds of italian fans buying merchandise etc...I love seeing new fans at the ground of different nationalities....It means we are slowly becoming bigger and bigger. This argument about only true blues come from Manchester is just utter rubbish. Yes we have a hardcore of 30-40k I would say but I hope our fan base grows and grows...

Yeah i think change is always a shock and some don't like it. When they realize they can keep the hardcore element and not have it diluted by new fans they should be better about it.

What's to stop old blues returning, and locals supporting the club?

We need more fans. Empty seats at Wembley and Cup games are proof of that

Although it's great to see League games, home and away selling out a week in advance. And it's time for City to implement the ground expansion plans as you can't expand the supporter base if new fans can't get in the ground.

Exactly...I do not feel threatened by so called new blues..Why would I? I have been through the bad times..Wycombe/Chesterfield etc so why should I worry about the fact that Johnny come lately wasn't there when , as the song goes "we were shit"...Heaven forbid it ever happens against but the loyal hardcore support will NEVER desert city. Change management-One of the hardest things to deal with and not just in football.

-- Sun Sep 25, 2011 12:18 pm --

take away those people from the swamp each week and there would be noticably empty seats...

I have no problem with who wants to pay to see City play and neither does the Sheikh.

Anyone remember the rag that came on here just after the takeover over the club?,whilst we we're all still in a state of shock with the record bid for Robinho,he was asking how we would feel when the glory hunters, day trippers and tourists turned up at the ground. At the time he took a bit of stick, looking back on it now he was only trying to point out the inevitable, which had gradually happened over in Stretford for the past 20 years or so.

Theirs been so many changes,so quickly at City over the past 3 years,it's sometimes easy to forget how shite we used to be,and the inept people that used to run our club. The whole set up from the stadium,to the facilities in and around the club,to the new academy, are part of a work in progress. Now as much as we loathe the horrible club across the way,you have to hold your hands up and admit,in terms of merchandise, and global appeal, the club have been way ahead of anyone else for donkeys years.Do you not think that perhaps the very wealthy and successful people that took over our club three years ago, have perhaps had a little look at the rags and developed their own blueprint for success?

The rags,Liverpool,Arsenal, and the likes of Barcelona have been drawing many foreign fans for a long time now,if that is now happening with us,then so be it,just part of the price of being successful,if the glory hunters turn up at the ground, then it means we are moving forward fast, and we'll just have to accept it.At least we can always look back on the dark old days of division one,and say we we're there long before the glory hunters.

Still think we will have a large local support when the ticket prices are low.

Think we should do a 'man city quiz' before you can buy a ticket.

I think we are attracting a lot of worldwide interest, especially with the players we have. Aguero, Silva, Tevez, Nasri etc are renowed across the world and fans are turning up/tuning in to watch these players. Its like watching Real Madrid or Barcelona for the likes of Ronaldo, Messi etc. I think we will increase our fanbase drastically, especially with the style of football we are playing. I believe its a positive thing.

I've no problem with who supports us and where they're from but like any real City fan, will inwardly cringe when we see the equivalent of the rags in Mumbai who tweet about #manchesterisred. These people won't know anything about our history or struggles, players like Andy Morrison, Kevin Horlock or Lee Bradbury.

That's the price of success though. It's up to us to try to educate these people and keep their feet on the ground.

It was always going to happen to us when the money came. Our profile is raised and we have world class players in our team. Don't feel threatened by the new fans, just be safe in the knowledge that you were there in the days before the money came in. I would rather be where we are now than still fighting relegation every year.

What is most important is that the club doesn't forget where it came from and honours and remembers its history.
