Paris Saint-Germain (A) - CL | Post-Match Thread

Hahahaha. You don’t give a half baked kid with no experience “a chance” against PSG. It took Foden 3 years of first team exposure to be ready for this game and delap doesn’t look anything like as good as him.
No but he could have been given a go against Southampton .it's the one position you could take a chance on an inexperienced player.

Bang average from us. PSG had it very handy as we had no pace and two wingers who cut inside, PSGs back 7 only had to defend the width of their box. Much better when Phil came on, Messi goal killed the tie as a contest but we never looked like scoring.

Not convinced we have enough this year with the false 9 system, tonight we looked blunt.

I think the game against Chelsea wore us out a bit as well. Mentally too. Players seem to lack ideas at times even tho' we had possession

Anyone have a clip of Laporte being wrestled down at the corner?

I think there was another one too, where Dias was sandwiched. This is just a still but it plays out as you’d expect… they both go down basically still in that position with the PSG player having his arm around him. Could be given but they often aren’t.

Definitely too close to call… it would need the dreaded lines and where they’d put them is anyones guess.View attachment 27186

He was onside due to where Sterling’s right leg was, particularly given the new instruction this year, they wouldn’t have judged him offside (well, the ref tonight might if he’d been judging it, he gave them everything!)

not that bothered about this one. We put in one of the best performances in our recent history over the weekend, we’re not suddenly a bad team since then. One thing is clear to me though, and I’ve been saying it for a year. We need Foden, Jesus and Bernardo in the starting line up to play at our best. They set the tone in how to defend from the front and chase down everything, and have done for a while now. They are all selfless and will run themselves into the ground for the team.

none of the forward players who come in to replace them have anywhere near their intensity levels.

Lack of finishing cost us again. Created more than enough chances to win that game. Their first was lucky as fuck and the second was poor from Laporte.

Only negative from me was that Jack was too predictable.

Not the end of the world.

their plan wasnt to sit and counter us from the start, they kiterally couldnt get the ball. Youre telling me that all thoes passes they missed were part of the big plan ?
but i do agree they werent average, but their form seemed terrible
PSG sat back after they scored. That early goal meant they could sit back and hope that their front three could catch us on the break. Exactly what happened. Also, their three destroyers in midfield got away with murder, time after time.
