Paris Saint-Germain (A) - CL | Post-Match Thread

"They can take the space," Guardiola said. "They are exceptional players, like Messi-Suarez-Neymar at Barca. Not many teams can have these players. PSG has them. We can't control them. I know two solutions: defend and pray or take the ball and create with it.

"It's hard to control Messi for 90 minutes. It's hard to stop him and we had to minimize the opportunities for him to touch the ball. Tonight we did what we know how to do, good or bad, but we are what we are. Tonight there was also Verratti who was extraordinary and managed to find connections with Neymar."
Did he not say how great Liverpool and United are too?
He's slipping.

Knew we wouldn't win when sterling and Bernardo hit the cross bar, we absolutely battered them imho.
Think battered them is pushing it. We played well but they were happy to let us have the ball believing one of their front 3 would deliver on the break and they did. Was a good game to watch particularly as it wasn’t as nerve wracking as usual knowing it’s highly likely we’ll still qualify anyway. For all our possession we didn’t create much, Sterling and Dias headers were about it in terms of good chances( Bernie was offside anyway).

True I should rephrase that to played them which I believe for large parts of the game we did there goalkeeper played very well also, I think we will beat them at home anyway.

Was a slightly odd away end to be in, I would say 50% Mancs then the rest a mix of OSC's and French non-city fans

There were even a couple in PSG shirts

Decent performance, we can't play the same eleven week in week out so Pep has to manage the squad. Burnley and Palace at home before the double header against Bruges should hopefully give us a chance of almost wrapping up a knockout place.

The Premier League fixtures with Chavs and Dippers away either side of a CL match was no coincidence. You can imagine their delight as we were then allocated PSG away, high fives all round.

Personally, I think we battered/ controlled them.

The only thing different to the Chelsea game was the drop off in press, but I think Guardiola was worried about the Verrati factor more than the Kante factor at the weekend.

But, seriously, as a marker, we should be going back to the press on the return as PSG's defence is, ultimately, awful.

PSG got away with it last night, choosing to 'Harlem Globe Trot' their way though many parts of the game and I hope PG sees that and tightens things up.

Absolutely there for the smashing.

It was a great set of PL results last weekend. Looks like being a shit set of results this midweek.

Unless Ole can conjure up another defeat for rags. Is that too much to hope for|?
