Paris Saint-Germain (A) - CL | Post-Match Thread

Decent performance, we can't play the same eleven week in week out so Pep has to manage the squad. Burnley and Palace at home before the double header against Bruges should hopefully give us a chance of almost wrapping up a knockout place.

The Premier League fixtures with Chavs and Dippers away either side of a CL match was no coincidence. You can imagine their delight as we were then allocated PSG away, high fives all round.
Hope bernie has enough time to get some real rest in his legs as he will be key for Sunday. We looked leggy at the end and after Chelsea where we put so much in, its hardly suprising. Need a few good days rest now and hopefully we can take our performance from Chelsea and PSG into anfield. If we can get a result there we are in a fantastic position.

I thought in places we were excellent. Played really well after going a goal behind and kept plugging away and passing the ball and making good switches of play. Should definitely had a penalty with one of the many fouls from corners and the more it went on the more the psg players knew they could get away with a lot more.
Had some great chances, the De Bruyne one really should have been a goal. Sterling was unlucky and I thought he did ok last night. I think people are already in the mind set that he’s going to be crap before we even kick off. He made some good runs and showed for the ball plenty of times. Again Riayd had a half decent game and kept on plugging away and didn’t hide. Without a forward though the wide men have to be even more dynamic and creative in what they are doing so take more shots or cut back inside where it’s already over crowded.

A proper forward last night and I think we win and it’s going to cost us I think this season which is a shame as the rest of our play is fantastic.
Walker was immense as usual. Rodri looks a lot fitter and more mobile. Cancelo has started very well this season and long may it continue.

De Bruyne looks unfit/still injured. Didn’t really effect the game as you would expect but I’m sure he will come good in a month or two.
Grealish looked like he was struggling a bit last night. Didn’t really get going which is hopefully him still coming to terms with playing against top top defenders. First champions league season for him but he does need to produce a bit more. Far to often he played the simple ball back when he really should be driving into the box and taking on defenders.

Think battered them is pushing it. We played well but they were happy to let us have the ball believing one of their front 3 would deliver on the break and they did. Was a good game to watch particularly as it wasn’t as nerve wracking as usual knowing it’s highly likely we’ll still qualify anyway. For all our possession we didn’t create much, Sterling and Dias headers were about it in terms of good chances( Bernie was offside anyway).
Bernie offside? That's a pointless argument, apparently.

Thought we played very well. Conceding so early was the nail in our coffin though. Meant they could sit behind the ball and counter. Same old story for us - score first, we'll win comfortably, concede first and we usually drop points.

we had enough chances and couldve scored at least two goals. sterling had two good chances , dias header , cancelo s shot on target , Kevin etc.

We can rely on the Bulgarian supporters club to take tickets from life long blues ,not much of an ask taking a short train journey to a class A game having never set foot in the Etihad is it

No issue with you going as your a regular fan and go the games ,but don't big up the effort of a few European fans that have never been near the club before on a short train ride ,would they have done the 11 hour round bus trip to Chelsea on Saturday ?
It was a £1k trip for me and the lad coming out of one wage ,there's only so much we can do

Might be worth checking where Bulgaria is relative to France and how long this 'short train ride' would take...

I was as surprised as anyone that our end was full to be fair but as we get better it will happen that we get more fans around the world. It's just how it is and I'm just grateful that us locals are lucky that we see the team live every week.

As for the game, I was over it by 11pm last night. All predictable in terms of missing chances but the Scouse is the priority this week.

I thought we played really well and dominated PSG. They changed to a very defensive game plan which left less space for us to counter them and their defence were outstanding. I can see alot of the big teams going this way this season and without a recognised striker we may struggle to win these games.

Although that miss from Bernie was just unbelievable - he puts that away and it would have been a different game.

The L'Equipe ratings always make me smile. 4/10 for Rodri!
