Debt never came into FFP, everyone knows it was all a farce drawn up by The Rags Confederation of Europe (Trafford Rags, Bavarian Rags, Madrid Rags etc.) to stave off new money. It was all about "not spending beyond your means" which is farcical in itself as it completely fails to acknowledge debt. Their income vs. expenditure allows them to spend that much under the rules of FFP, but I'm not even sure EUFA care for FFP now as they completely failed in their aims. UEFA 0 - 1 Manchester City F.C.
Surely the fact we can't compete for Pogba, because our budget is restricted by FFP means the reverse of your last line?

This thread is spectacular.

If Pogba goes across town why don't we just give them the title and have a concert series on Saturdays or something, instead of bothering with competitive football. Maybe meet up and talk about needlepoint... make a plan for how to build a new team and stage a comeback when Pogba retires in 2027. I'll bake cookies.

Or take all the money7 you'd spend on season tickets etc and everyone goes to Europe. Marseille maybe?

Seriously, there's no shame in saying he'd be a drastic improvement on their midfield and therefore I hope he doesn't go there. Doesn't mean I'm flapping, it's just common sense.

Interesting how much the general consensus has changed since we distanced ourselves from him.

Maureen will coach all the flair out of him before he knows it but yes he would improve them

So this morning they were opening negotiations and they already have a deal in place? Yeah right

And all this happened whilst Pogba was preparing for the biggest game of his career tonight!!!

So; that's Pogba, Aubameyang and Laporte (all alleged targets for us) that, for whatever reason, we haven't managed to close out deals for. The window isn't exactly turning out how I was hoping. So far. Still hopeful we can bring in another couple of new faces before the start of the season.

Perfectly fair. Great player, great signing for them if they pull it off.

There are a lot of people in this thread not as adept at keeping their shit together as you, though. The number of folks laying down their swords and accusing our own club of failing to bolster the ranks is high comedy. Not sure if it's a new thing or if the same people were freaking out when Chelsea signed Hernan Crespo, but it seems like a really stressful way to navigate life.

Last year when we missed out on Pogba we got Delph.

Let's hope we have a better plan B in place because a good but injury prone Gundogan isn't enough on his own to improve our aging midfield.
