Pellegrini - Job done ?

I'm convinced we will win the league, get further than we ever have in the CL and possibly pick up one of the cups but at times I feel that is in spite of Pellers rather than because of him. I can think of several managers who would have had this league wrapped up by now. I just don't get the tactics in some games. Yesterday was a prime example, how can anybody think going into a game against 6th in the league away with Yaya and Delph in central midfield? This isn't an isolated incident, he has gone into certain games leaving us exposed. Our central defenders get a tanking week in, week out but none of them are bad players. Each are internationals and top class but even Bobby Moore, Wio, Baresi, Chellini, Stam, Adams and any other top quality centre half ever lived would look shite with the way we set up every week.

Agree about the centre backs

Part of a manager's job is surely to improve players. I can't think of one player he has improved. Our defenders can't defend, our midfielders look shite, the wingers don't run past people and our reserve striker(Bony) can't hit a barn door and niether could Dzecko last season

Now, we are either the unluckiest team in the world when it comes to buying players or the manager isn't doing his job properly. I'll go with the latter

So to answer the question. No, not 'job done'. Win the league this year would make it 'par' so to speak but I think most managers could achieve that

Managers will always be judged on results and on that front he has delivered so far.

Purely based on results, as of this moment I believe that Pellegrini has been average for us. Not bad but not good either.

The PL and Cup win in his first season obviously shows he can win trophies but last season was appalling bad. It's all well and good saying that we finished 2nd but that was solely due to the fact other sides like Arsenal and United underperformed. We didn't even muster a title challenge which sums up last season. In fact, we were even in danger of finishing 4th at one stage.

This season is a strange one. We are almost like United were in the latter stages of Ferguson's reign. I mean that in the sense in that we beat the 'lesser sides' but look distinctly average against the good sides. We are still in with a shout of winning the league but so far we should be doing better with the money spent and players at our disposal.

I think it would be fair to say that Pellegrini is not the person to take us to the next level. In fact, I think he is a tier below the top class managers.
 
His tactics, or lack of them were appalling last night. As soon as I saw Yaya and Delph together in midfield I was worried. Also I believe we should have started with Raheem, rather than KDB. At home against packed defences is when you play KDB. Away from home with teams attacking you, Sterling is your best choice as he can stretch the game. Also KDB is struggling for form away from home at the minute.

It didn't help David was off his game. However, the main reason why we didn't win was because of Pelle. He simply doesn't do enough work on the oppositions strengths and weaknesses.

Personally I would have gone with Fernando and Ferny.
 
Pellegrini won two trophies in his debut season. Thats a pretty good haul and already makes him one of City's most successful ever managers. That said I don't rate his defensive signings, and unless he can sort this...

I would think any competent manager would have done the same. The players were up for it after the previous season's troubles with Mancini, and all he had to do was allow them to play in a positive way.
 
overall since we made the change from mancini we've been wank. zero progress, in fact we've gone backwards. we are no longer feared and we are incredably easy to beat. apart from that yeh "job done"

Clearly we are well below the sum of our parts and yet we could still win the title without ever getting there. Not sure what that says about Pellers to be honest.
