Had time to calm down

Think we have to give him time, the next 5 games he has ti get some wins... he really has to

Worst case we miss out on top 4, but honestly HOW bad is that?

Liverpool, Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Spurs etc have all dropped out the top 4 over the last 5-8 years... we haven't

I dont know if he can get us out of this slump, it's not looking good ngl but I would want him here for the rebuild, even if it means having a rough season this year

Needs to show some bottle though and show he can make changes to stop this rut
All managers have a shelf life and keeping them in too long can be damaging not only to the club, team and fans but tarnishing one of the greatest ever legacies.
The club has lived in the past regarding players and look at the result now - too many past their peak players who are knackered and injury prone.
Now we will probably have the same situation with Pep. I think most acknowledge the rebuild we need will be at least 2 years and it may end up being a bit hit and Miss with players making it even longer. But if we do see the rebuilding starting to bear fruit - what happens then? Pep leaves.
The small squad has carried us as far as it can and needs to be abandoned and I find the strategy of selling all the talented young players baffling. Pep’s inability to trust fringe/young players was fine because winning papered over the cracks but now it’s looking a bit daft.
I do think now the Board and management have a big challenge ahead (because the other teams are getting better) and in the long run, Pep leaving one way or another at the end of the season may be best longer term.
I’m speculating a bit but I think history is on my side.

Love pep hope he stays forever. But just wondering since hes never stayed at a club this long are his methods so intense that its almost impossible for the players to continue long term. Mentally aswell as physically overwhelming. Just a thought?
I would say for players, anything over three years is long term. Age has caught up with the spine of the team. Complacency maybe in a couple (Eddie I'm looking at you), injury has done a lot. However, we never give any credit to the advances made by other teams at working out how to play against us. Its taken them years to do it but some have sussed it. We will come again, of that I have zero doubt. This is merely a short passage that will be consigned to history soon enough.

It’s not good to see him struggle at the moment I think he will be absolutely lost inside and hopefully talking through with Khaldoon etc to get the club back where it was.

Have to agree . Just look at the Walker situation I mean he was ready to walk after the treble season and pep talked him round to stay and he showed loyalty which has now backfired so do you honestly think will now turn ruthless and get rid of players which he has grown with he even brought back gundo this season . Rebuild will take at least a couple of years and we may get one season out of pep and then another coach comes in and starts again . I have a gut feeling we are in the last few weeks of pep’s reign and if he goes he go as a legend and the greatest ever .

Daft?
16 trophies mate.
Winning is why we play.

I would take a couple of years battling relegation in return for the memories he has given us.
We’ve had years of battling relegation (and often failing) so the good times feel so good as you say. All I’m saying now is that Pep’s general policy of rarely trusting young lads/fringe players needs to change because we’re not winning any more.
Looks like he is changing his mind about a small squad

He may have no choice, but to accept the CLUB wants to move players on.

Viana has been brought in and has his remit, and Khaldoon will give him the space to do his job, knowing that the players Viana brings in will far outlive Pep’s tenure.

Pep can tell them who he’d like, but we all know he wants proven players he can trust RIGHT NOW, not necessarily youngsters he has to teach.

For me, Khaldoon, Soriano & especially Viana are in the drivers seat now, not Pep!

This is the weakest the squad’s been in a decade. Pep’s first season we sneak into top 4 by 3 points. Next season, Centurions, the most dominant season by any English team.

Our net spend is good, we’ve got £90mil a year coming in from Etihad alone and a core (Haaland, Rodri, Foden, Gvardiol, Dias) we can build around. We’ve got some big shoes to replace, but honestly, I can’t see who else comes close to Pep. No-one does.

And playing devil’s advocate, even if Pep is finished, we owe him at least another season.

To suggest pep is finished is laughable go back 12 games a couple of months nobody was questioning him then . Everything was happy days. The we pick up some really bad injuries losses come form and confidence is damaged. We will get ourselves out of it no doubt still finish in the top 4 and hopefully have a good crack at the cups we r left in.

It is painful to watch Pep suffering like he is now. He does not look well, and his statements about not eating and sleeping underline this. He may even need some time out for his own sake. It is all very sad, and I doubt he will be here beyond the end of the season now, for his own good, and it could be that the club decide it is the best for all parties. I sincerely hope this is not the case and that he and the Boys in Blue turn this situation round. They need to stop letting him down with the crass, juvenile and stupid mistakes. They have let themselves, the club, Pep and us down.

Pep realises he needs a bigger squad now and should be backed to improve it if he can continue. He does need to trust in youth more and we need to stop letting highly talented youngsters go. It has already hurt us.

A lot of our current, ongoing problems are due to strategic errors about the playing squad.

The club needs to throw off complacency, stop penny pinching and focus on having an adequate squad, not an ageing, injury prone one.

These great players and our greatest ever manager have brought us so much success and unforgettable joyous moments. Every player and manager has their shelf life, though, sadly. I sincerely hope this isn't the end for Pep but it feels like it is headed there despite the contract extension.

Seeing this sharp decline is painful, and it is worse still seeing a lovable passionate genius suffering like Pep is.
