Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

Loyalty to his players needs to go out the window for the remainder of the season.

He was backed in the window, players are returning to fitness, he has a squad now - the same players who have been making continual mistakes all season shouldn't continue to start.

We need a consistent 11 and to get back into the groove of things - chopping and changing the line up with each game has hampered us massively.

doesn’t matter what complaints we have
He’s staying for a while so probably just get used to it sigh

I think it will benefit the new team to have new ideas, it may even refresh some of the players who seem done.
Who it is, no idea.
Dont know about point A. But point B about the players who seem so e is probably wrong. They are done as top level players.!!!

I can't believe that we still have people on this forum that can't see that Guardiola is the problem! It's over for feck's sake, and no amount of delusion is going to turn this around. We've had a decade of almost unique dominance, the like of we'll never see again, but it's gone, done, dusted, finished.

What we need now are new hungry people with fresh ideas. They may not be successful, but they'll have a much better chance of turning things around than a tired manager flogging a broken team.

Watches KDB stink the place out all game but gives him 83 minutes while his new big money forward gets 5 minutes, Akanji gets hurt and instead of bringing on his fast and strong 40 million new CB, he brings on little Rico whom he has benched for the last few games, and the best of the lot was bringing on Gundogan for the last few minutes, I mean Ilkay didn't commit the major errors but why do you make that sub at all ? what is the point at this stage ? and of course after we concede the equaliser he can't bring any calmness and at least hold on for a draw,

Honestly Tonight just proves yet again that since last season it's no longer the Pep team, it's the Rodri team and he just can't find a solution at all.
It looks that way but I suspect even with Rodri at his best there has been too much of a drop off from the vast majority of players. Many of whom are no longer up to the standard required week in week out to compete for trophies due to aging , injuries that will continue to dog them because they are just not fit enough to run and compete and lack the physicality required in the game to compete over 95 minutes for him to carry the team had been able to this season. We know who they are and we have to include KDB , Bernardo , Gundy , Grealish amongst that lot that won't be around the club for much longer.

We need a complete reset , I am not sure if the 3 signings in January will be part of our next premiership team its way too early to say perhaps they were bought to maximize our fading chances of playing in the Chumps League next season perhaps longer term signings we shall see but its a long road back and the core of the team has run its course.

As said I am not too concerned if we don't make it next season if anything it will only make things clearer for us.

Other teams without our resources have bounced back relatively quickly you only need to look at Liverpool with an overhaul of their midfield and we need to and will do the same.

As Pep who has made many mistakes this season both in selection , substitution and game management said he was wrong to believe this side had one more season in it , he flogged them to death and you cannot flog a dead horse and expect better outcomes.

I’m just not convinced we can play this type of football and ever dominate again. Instead of sticking to our principles, we’ve chosen to play a way that puts us on the same level as other teams, but they have squads built to play that particular way and we don’t.
It's just nonsense, we can't press but we do it anyway and it never works and it ends up with the opposition having the freedom of the park to run at us, on the ball it's mostly the slow rubbish where we wait for the opposition to get back in position and aimlessly pass it from side to side waiting for some magic to happen and it usually ends up with us losing the ball and them having the freedom of the park to counter.

Absolute mad tactics but he's been using them for months, but you know something I'm starting to think that even if he changes it and plays deeper and on the counter it wouldn't change much and we would still gift the opposition stupid goals because the mentality and confidence of this team is just terrible and he can't fix it.

As peculiar as it sounds, I’m feeling encouraged by the way we set up and went about the first half. We were much more compact, the fullbacks were giving us extra bodies in midfield, there weren’t giant spaces everywhere, we were measured in possession, were looking after it higher up the pitch. And aside from a mad 5 minutes when they had 3 chances, we were in control. We looked like a Pep team. Miles better than the nonsense stuff we saw against PSG. Hopefully a sign that Pep will go back to his principles as we move forward.
Take that team playing that way, replace Akanji with a fullback who can properly step into midfield (Cambiasso, Kimmich), put Rodri and maybe Gonzalez in the midfield, Foden behind Haaland and get a top class creative replacement for De Bruyne (Wirtz, Baena) and we’ll be good to go.

he should use rest of the season to revamp our playing style to be closer to what it used to be between 2018-2022. but it will be hard with his loyalty to old guard and his current tactics of a slower style which is being found out by great teams, decent teams, mediocre teams too.

more energy, more pressing, more running is needed. dont like when sometimes he says thats not our style, we are not good at that. we need to be great at it and work harder on and off the ball.

Rodri will get another ACL injury if he comes back and actually has to work 10 times harder than before to work and run instead of Foden, KDB, Gundogan, Kovacic etc.

now next 3 games can be absolute shitshow. Newcastle, Real, Liverpool. we already are more tired than them and less fitness and stamina.
I bet Howe and Slot is asking their midfielders of extra fucking running and energy to show vs City. and Barcodes dont have a midweek game this week while Liverpool wont have a midweek game next week when we arrive back to Manchester on Thursday after a long game at the Bernabeu which wont be nice either.
dont look forward to Tonali, Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes giving us a match in midfield...

They're physically exhausted and that leads to mistakes, particularly late in games. It's not just the players that get the blame for the particular goals, they almost all look drained.

We have had a a period of unique dominance at home, which is great but considering how good we've been we've underperformed in Europe.

I think he got most things right tonight, how can he be blamed for the howlers at the end? The only questionable decision for me was taking Savinho off, he had his best game tracking back and could have helped on both their last two goals. Maybe even Nunes instead of Rico just for his pace - debateable

He's an incredible manager who's coaching a team comprising half a dozen past it players to an incredible standard.

Once we get a bit of new blood in there we'll be flying again.
