Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

I can't help but feel Pep has been thrown under the bus by the club this season a little bit.

Everyone knew we have an ageing team that is going to need a rebuild so why didn't we start this summer?

We sold Alvarez for £80m yet didn't buy a replacement and we never replaced Phillips, even if it was a loan deal for someone.

I think Txiki got it bang on with Haaland and Gvardiol in recent years but his other acquisitions have been nothing short of bang average in my opinion.

To go from having Sterling and Mahrez a few years ago to Doku and Savio is a huge drop down.

The clubs (and probably Pep's as well) decision to let go of Lavia and Palmer as well will go down as one of the very few, but large mistakes the club did under Peps tenure.
 
Soriano and Txiki have a lot to answer for regarding the net spend record and lack of energy in the window from us. being comfortable vs trying to improve further. we chose the first, and now we reap the rewards...

strengthen while you are ahead, now we may wait until we are not ahead to really strengthen...

Agree think Soriano is more interested in our accounts coming out and being of 900m Think pep is the kind a person who will just say yeah be fine with this squad! But we did spend 250m last summer

Don’t think it’s anything to do with spending money, and we’ll see that next summer when we spend a lot. Much more to do with players not being ready to leave last summer to make room,players like KDB, Walker, Gundogan who was brought in because we could for nothing and maybe Bernardo ,more to do with players we may be looking at not ready to move on last summer.
Plus, despite what we think about our confidence of being exonerated in the 115 , there will be a little doubt in the back of peoples mind out in the market of ,what if.
We went into this season hoping we had enough and we still might ,nobody looks to be taking advantage of this dip which we will recover from.This season is the last season for some but we have plenty of players to rebuild on.

My confidence in their invincibility is a little shaken.

Can see that but Chelsea got 35 players we should of at least brought in 1 quality midfielder and a striker! And if the players moan so be it you don't hear anything from Chelsea players they get on with it

sam lee just said pep has been blocking transfers and pushing the club to not spend money.
