It is a great point and an honest one at that.
I've been saying to a couple of my mates if this was another team performing like we are you would say the manager has lost the dressing room and the players have downed tools.
Then you look at the bare facts of injuries, poor form, rub of the green, chances missed/conceded, pep signing on for another two years and you think ok, take your medicine and come out the other side.
I think it was so important to make a top class signing every summer. This keeps players on their toes, adds change to the group and keeps standards.

We look totally fucked and it could just be that. Pep has insisted this will happen and he was surprised it didn’t last season.

He absolutely shouldn‘t change his principles.
But he absolutely should change the shape of the team so that we don‘t have big gaps all over the place.
I agree, a tweak is needed. Rodri is clearly the instrument that it all works around. You can’t expect the system to work as effectively with the major component missing.

Unfortunately Kaz that statement smacks of stubbornness currently.
I'm not asking Pep to chuck everything away, but he needs to be pragmatic at the moment. Also needs to take his blinkers off when it comes to certain players - hi Gundo!
At the same time, given who we have available, I can't see an easy solution. Not sure throwing Wright or O'Reilly in sorts things, so do you try Stones or Gvardiol in front of the defence??
I like the idea suggested elsewhere of going back to 4 CBs, but that's risky given recent injury history for pretty much all of then.
This is what Pep's paid for so we'll see what miracle he can pull out of the hat

Hit the bar during that period when it was 2-0 and kev had provided a little bright period too. So it wasn't a complete shit show. And Pep doesn't reallly attack his players in public.
Ray we lost 4-0

stones would have to stay fit for that and Josko is needed at left back

I think Pep has signed on because he's been promised new faces plus he wants to rebuild the team and maybe get one more champions league under his belt.
We'll have Rodders back next year which will be like a new signing.
I think we'll come through it, you can never say never but we need something pretty spectacular to happen for us to get 5 in a row but personally I've resigned myself to the fact that top 4 will be good return for the obstacles we're trying to overcome.
Anything else on top of that is a welcome bonus.
I agree, I think top 4 is a must for us and I will be happy with that after the disruption the injuries have caused. If we don't start putting away some of our chances and tighten up defensively that could be a struggle though. Oh and whilst we are at it, that midfield - that really is the villain of the team.

We are on a tough run but it’s a sign of Pep’s class in the way that he’s conducting himself recently. He’s remaining upbeat and appears energised at the need to solve this predicament, no sign of the pettiness and huffiness we’ve seen from other ‘top’ managers.

I don’t think he’ll change his approach greatly, but the returning players from injury will give us a boost. Give Pep a fit Kev, Jack and Ruben (in for Rico/kyle, Gundo and Savinho) and we suddenly have a team that is much better, and the porous confidence will rebuild. We saw it in the last 20 against Spurs.

Fine margins at this level and it’ll take one game of taking a couple of chances and eradicating the basic errors we’ve been hamstrung by to get back on track.

Which is why I understand his comments today about not changing the style, we need a win tomorrow with a bit of dig and desire.

The fallacy in this statement is the n the pretense he hasn't changed.

He and the team has The team relies heavily on individual brilliance now rather than cohesive quick passing play.

The passing is slower and more deliberate. A change from the quicker pace attacking style of 4-5 years ago

But the most important change has been the lack of ball pressure from the front. We are so pedestrian and disjointed at doing it now

Granted, many teams are better at possession at the back, but we are so poor at breaking up their build ups and recovering the ball.

We are a better defensive team if we press high.

Press high!!!!!
