You seem to think he had an alternative course of action than relying on a system and way of playing that has served up 18 trophies in 8 seasons

He’s going to sit in front of the players and say listen guys forget everything I’ve taught you over the last few years, it’s a crock of shit , we’re now going to play with a low block and start launching it down the channels for Haaland to chase

That’s not how it works, once the message changes and you don’t have the courage of your convictions then the players will begin to doubt- Ten Haag at united is a classic example

We just need to get through this period of injuries without too much damage and kick on when we have more of the squad available and more crucially match fit

Unless you have a better idea ?
Where have I suggested he do that? You're putting words in my mouth.

I'm saying he could show a bit more pragmatism to help us defensively rather than persisting with a system that is clearly no longer working with the players he has available - a system that is continually leaving the players exposed and that Is making them look bang average. I'm not saying he should rip up the playbook and start again.

He has tweaked and evolved the way we play numerous times over the years but after the last 6 weeks and a run of form that a relegation-threatened side would expect to see I'm questioning if he has any answers to this.

Of course he has led us to the greatest period of success we are likely to ever see but you can't have it both ways and say he's responsible for the 18 trophies and then go on to say he's not responsible at all for this downturn.

Not sure what you're classing as too much damage but were clearly no longer in the title race and also in a real battle to even qualify for the CL knockouts. We've been humiliated by an average spurs side at home and have been lucky to beat the two teams rock bottom of the league.

Good post.

Pep is sticking to his system, along with a few oolder players who just aren't up to it any longer, and a few new players who just can't do it.

Poor succession planning. That's all this is about.

We're winning nothing this season, and if we don't sort the squad out quickly, we'll win nothing next season either.

Knew he was going nowhere. You can clearly see he is happy at the club and ready to build another team. Hopefully he stays 3/4 more seasons at least.

The trophy haul is fantastic but I will always be grateful for the respect and dignity he has shown our club. He gave us a credibility that will stand the test of time.

Welcome to Manchester pep -:)

he needs to change our speed. speed of attacks, the slow legs of Gundo, slow thinking of Kovacic, slow passing around mainly between our CBs vs two lines of 5 sitting deep. we are truly awful at defending transition this season. we already slowed down from treble season to last season, but players were bit quicker, since then lot of them got older, aged badly etc.

having quick wingers are nice, but our play aint using their speed. there isnt space for them to use any pace. Haaland is deadly when he has bit of space and can do a 1 on 1 with a defender but we get those situations once in a bluemoon in return he is often around 3 CBs in a parked bus which makes it even hard to find him for 90 minutes.

our pressing is quite bad, many teams realise that now and use it against us and then they face some slow midfield struggling to defend quick runners and easy to play trough with defenders struggling to hold the line and making all kind of positional gaffes almost every game. if its not Akanji, its Walker, or Lewis or Gvardiol.

even fucking Palace knew what they need to do to hurt us and we didnt have too many answers.

big big week ahead, Juventus and rags, not too sure we reached to bottom of the pothole in terms of our bad run of results. worried even about the rags because they struggle more when they supposed to be the dominant side and rip apart a side like Ipswich or Forest, but when they are underdogs they often can put a shift in. and there is a reason Spurs hits us 4-0 or Sporting hits us 4-1 but after those games almost everyone else stuffs them. Sporting played vs Arsenal and Brugge since that in CL, lost both 5-1 and 2-1. Spurs fucking horrible since they beat us.

I agree . We are in a real sport if trouble and because our recruitment has been poor for the last couple of windows we are. Now in the sane position as fergie was after he last won the title with an aging found out team . Pep is looking tired and I might get flak from the happy clappers but he may well call it a day end if this season . Hope im wrong but if this carries on I think he will go . .

We dont have anyone moving behind the line bar haaland from time to time.juventus have no problem keeping their line and preventing us doing anything.this 5 midfieders passin the ball around is not working against great teams.

He's HAS to be under pressure surely

Literally does the same thing every week and then goes ballistic nothing changes.....

Surely he knows its to slow, surely he sees our midfield has no legs, surely we need to mix up the personnel with youth or the shape

Something HAS to change and he seem incapable of doing so

Thought he was better than Sir Alex, but he's showing he has no idea what to do under some adversity

Not saying sack him, but we are in freefall going one way.... some hard truths need to be had
