I think he got most things right tonight, how can he be blamed for the howlers at the end? The only questionable decision for me was taking Savinho off, he had his best game tracking back and could have helped on both their last two goals. Maybe even Nunes instead of Rico just for his pace - debateable
So you're telling me De Bruyne should've played 83 minutes ? Lewis instead of Khusanov was a good decision ? finishing with Kovacic and Gundogan was a good decision ?

Would help if he actually starts using the new blood he had on the bench.
I agree. Marmoush should've replaced KDB much earlier. I assume Nico isn't fit.

Khusanov or Lewis is a toss up. Look what happened to Khusanov against Chelsea. You can't blame him going for Lewis.

We lost because of two mistakes, arguably because of one mistake. How can you blame him for that.

He's an incredible manager who's coaching a team comprising half a dozen past it players to an incredible standard.

Once we get a bit of new blood in there we'll be flying again.
His weaknesses are being exposed unfortunately...

Yeah he fucked up early but was fine since

I'd rather put him on, he's fast and physical. Must be frustrating for him to sit on the bench and watching Madrid players glide past Rico who runs like he's in quicksand and is piss weak.

I'm saying that either is a risk and one isn't obviously better than the other. His decision was understandable.

Please mate, we were getting battered at the start of the second half and he waited and waited until we conceded, terrible game management, his subs were shite, leaving Kev on for 84 minutes was inexcusable, we should've had Marmoush on much earlier and tested their makeshift defence far more, 4 shots on target including a pen against that backline is rubbish, Madrid had more shots and better chances and we were lucky to be ahead.

As for the mistakes, it's been happening all season against pretty much every team and he hasn't been able to coach it out of them, yes he takes blame for that as well, oh and the guy who commited the second mistake shouldn't have been on the pitch to begin with, maybe use your new big money fast and strong defender instead of Lewis.

I think Pep was frightened of Madrid, set us up defensively when we could have been more aggressive given their defensive problems.

Foden is our world class midfielder now. Not Kev nor Bernie. So leaving him out is stupid.

Midfield for next week.

Nico, Phil and Bernie

Up front

Marmoush Haaland and Savinho

Who insisted on keeping a small squad (of aged players)

I think winning the league last season fooled him and the club into thinking that we had more time on our side to overhaul the squad.

Even though we got over the line, the signs were there last season that a lot of these players were nearing the end.

There's people at the club paid a lot of money to foresee this happening and prepare, but we didn't. Now we have to be reactionary. Usually we're spot on in our preparation for the future but I think we misjudged it last summer.
