Pep Revolution book by Marti Perarnau

I think Pep had enough of Sterling after that miss against Lyon, seven months earlier. After that game, the following season, Sterling was still starting regularly but he only scored 10 goals in 31 starts (out of a possible 38 games in all comps to that point in March). So it’s not like Pep didn’t give him a chance to redeem himself.

Pep saw the decline. But then inexplicably started him in the CL final (I suppose we all make mistakes).
That mistake was amongst Pep’s worst.

We are not guarantee going to win that CL final against Chelsea even if Rodri in starting eleven.

Some people need to accept the loss against that Chelsea side which is great at that time and not still being bitter about it.

The Chelsea team was wank at the time. Pep had a mare and set the team up badly.

Nothing is ever guaranteed for sure, but at least play your best team.

Are people not allowed to discuss opinions on alternative outcomes woth different personnel without being labelled as bitter ?

Playing Sterling in that game was a poor choice , however playing neither or Rodri or Fernandinho when one or the other had started at DM for every other game that season was Peps biggest ever fuck up.
Surely It’s the same decision - he picked Sterling over Dinho or Rodri.

Pep should have gone full strength in the Cup and League game prior to the CL Final. Losing those games gave Chelsea the confidence to beat us in the Final after we’d destroyed them at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season.

A fucking bad night altogether, with some unusually strange selections / decisions from Pep.

Has he ever explained his thinking on this ?

Yeah sure the same Chelsea team capable to reach CL final beating the likes Real Madrid to do so?

They are not fucking wank at time, yes they become wank after that but not at CL Final.

Great? They finished 19 points behind us in the league and had only scored 58 goals that season.

Losing that final was as bad as losing the FA Cup final last season (United only scored 57 goals themselves last season). It can happen, but it was very poor against an average side.
