Pep: 'The players deserve a full stadium, we need our fans!'

Would be good to see it full for CL,not sure it ever will be though.

I read somewhere on here a couple of years ago that of the 36,000 seasoncard holders that came from Maine Rd less than 12,000 were now attending games.Think the support base mentality has changed and until we get a load more plastics following us like united and Liverpool(10/20 years work) we are always going to struggle to fill unless its a big game

Was full against Madrid and PSG. Over 50k against Juventus as well.

Even pep is taking the piss about empty seats. If he starts calling us citeh and saying we're all from Stockport I think we will know what some of us have always suspected - he is in fact a rag, and the only reason he's not their manager is that they decided they didn't want him anyway :-(

Even heard him say 'It's a muffin' last night. Fucking bang out of order If you ask me.

He must wonder what's going on when the fucking stadium empties on 80-85 minutes. It really is shite. They was hardly anyone there when the fourth went in.

This - I think that we need to stop kidding ourselves - there is a real problem.

I am not sure what can be done about it - but if we cannot bring ourselves to get out of this attitude of denial that will not help.

Why did the club have to decide in advance to close sections of the stands - not down to the club, they would love the revenue. It is down to the track record of the behaviour of us fans.

So yes - we do have a problem in terms of attendance

And yes - we do have a problem with regard the atmosphere at the ground - the club have tried through consultation and making changes - but 'dragging horses to water' and all that

And yes - we have a problem with the way fans fuck off - and again the club has done so much to provide reasons to stay to the end.

We, as a fanbase, have to man-up and admit that there is a really serious - multi-faceted - problem with not only attracting greater numbers but also the quality of their support.

Really really not sure what we can do about it - well I guess it would help if everyone one here decided to stay to the final whistle unless there really was a 'proper' reason to leave early - but IMO we should at least accept that the issue is real - embarrassing and lets down our fellow supporters, club, owner and players

I hear he was singing 'Where were you when you were shit' during the match last week

I read that most clubs lose something like 2-3,000 fans per season for a variety of reasons. Its inevitable that the fan base will change. Like any club, we do need to keep attracting new fans. Continuing negativity towards the CL isn't going to help, no matter how justified it may have been in the past.

The booing was quite loud yesterday, but looking around where I was sat in 105, a lot of fans just weren't joining in. Not like the numbers that booed last year. I think we will start to hear a reduction in volume at the next couple of games and then it will quickly become old hat, just as the Poznan disappeared fairly quickly.

If pep could send a few quid my way I'd be more than happy to go, as it is the direct debit robs me of any spare cash I have, if I've got extra cash I'll go, really is that simple for me.
Adding fuel to the fire that we don't turn out is not the brightest idea I've ever heard and not thought out enough before he engaged cog.

We should really have a larger fan base, but part of it stems from underachieving since the takeover.

Would like to make the point that make it'd help if the club realised that it had a largely working class fan base. After paying £600 a year for my season ticket it's hard to then stump up the extra for the Champions League.

Has pep dropped his first bollock here? I dont think there is an issue with getting the stadium filled, but the atmosphere on the midweek CL games is so much quieter. But last night was not a good example to use, I mean it was called off and people had to rearrange everything.

Anyway, glad it isnt alll over the media, but Pep is helping with that if even he highlights it.

The same fixture last year got a 41K attendance. The fact that the 3rd tiers were closed to sales means that we weren't going to beat that figure this year, and it may even have been a few thousand lower, which at first glance is surprising given the high the team is on at the moment.

But a couple of good points were made in the pre-match thread (or it might have been the one about the 3rd tiers not being available):

First, University hasn't started yet so we are likely to be down on the sale of tickets to students

Second, maybe a bigger factor, because all the season's PL games have been made available for sale means that some occasional match goers might have already spent their available resources on securing PL tickets for the games they want to go to later in the season.

If we keep playing like we did last night we will surely get more bums on seats though, it was great.

A multitude of separate issues rolled into one issue - attendance.

I went Tuesday night.
I'm in the cup scheme.
Match was called off just as we got into the city square.

Managed to get a tram into Mcr, Bury line was closed so forked out £30 for a taxi home.

Damn right I phoned up this morning and requested a refund for my ticket, as I work shifts and I turn down enough work as it is to go to Matches.
I worked tonight, finished at 4am.
I ain't rushing around after the match finishes at 9:30pm to then do a full shift which I had previously agreed to do.

Does Pep live in the real fucking world?
He earns more per day than I probably earn in a year.
I dont have chauffeur driven cars, apartments in the centre, and if I want to watch live football I certainly don't get fucking paid for it.

Fuck it. This is my last season as a St holder.
It's being cancelled in May, Soriano can go fuck himself and you're more than welcome to all the Chinese tourist half n half scarf wearing cunts.

I'm sick of being told how I should spend my hard earned by rich cunts and it's just too much of an inconvenience both time wise and financially in watching live football now.

Punished for being a skint football fan.

This is a rich man's game now, with the spectators at the top level of the game now being tourists (or the club forcing out the regulars to replace em with tourists)

This is great prose but the prices were competitive last night. Yes many couldn't come last night for personal reasons and not being able to resell tickets didn't help, but there are many blues staying away and I refuse to accept its due to finances. For some maybe, but our fan base en masse isn't destitute. Many just can't be arsed.
