Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

It's not being "released", it's being leaked by Tolmie who is a proven ITK on this board. You can feel free to take it with a pinch of salt, indeed some here do appear to be quite salty over it, but he has legitimate sources in the club and is well placed to post something like this and for it to be factual. That's why it hasn't been taken down.

Like the "Welcome to Manchester" he gave to Pogba ?

By the way I am a Guardiola fan - just wanted to know if any substance to it all.

Recruitment isn't really going to be a problem - Pep tells him who to get and he goes and gets them. He's done well navigating some tricky buys recently - De Bruyne was incredibly close to going to Paris for family reasons, and Txiki convinced him, and G. Jesus was being chased by everyone, but ended up here. Prying Sané away from Bayern wouldn't have been easy either, you only have to look at the 2 transfers Bayern announced yesterday to see how hard it is to get young German's away from them.

An area we could do with upgrading might be scouting, creating a list of players for Pep & co. to choose from.

Guardiola has shown he's more than ready to adapt in the time he's been here already, so I don't know how anyone can justify comments like this or "stubborn" comments.

Changing the team every single week isn't adapting it's called experimenting

1. It's in the thread you're posting in.
2. It's common sense because City have planned for Pep for YEARS. He's part of a large scale transformation of the club and brand and he's the peg upon which it all hangs.

Oh, I was going off your post history and assuming that you would be quite sad to hear Pep Guardiola is staying even longer than his three year contract implied. My mistake.

That's not relevant because nobody gives two shits about your waist or hair. If you can't see why City and it's owners would care about Pep's pedigree and past accomplishments then I assume, naturally, you're being obtuse.

As do I.

It concerns me that we have fans who are only willing to give a manager half a season to turn around an aging squad that isn't even his.

So it didn't exist! Perfect! Emporers new clothes!

Nor wrong.

Are we?

Seems a number of people are taking optimism from the news our manager will extend his contract. Maybe you're just grumpy.

It was sang quite a lot before the game started and at the beginning of the first half.

But sure, keep on inventing masses of people who seem to agree with you about Pep and ignore the fact you're clearly in the minority here. It's hard to engage in any kind of constructive discussion with someone so unreasonable they are ready to condemn the manager as a fraud, ignoring his past accomplishments of course, based on half a season. You know why? Because it's fucking stupid.
Only time will tell if its stupid. As said I want to know what he is doing now that makes people optimistic. I've had a couple of responses giving examples from September, 60 mins against Chelsea, 45 against Arsenal, the West Ham game and 3 years each in 2 other countries.

Its a serious question . What am I missing in the week to week development from Pep because id love to tap into it?

Sorry but he has lost all credibility with me over his baffling decision to replace Hart with Bravo.

If I was the Sheikh I would be looking around for a replacement already.
Sheikh Gary , so pep's lost all his credibility with replacing Hart with bravo bet he's gutted to hear that

It is 3 months since that run but it is 6 months since Pep took charge. After the total calamity 2nd half of the season last year under Pellegrini should we be surprised how we are playing? Has he even had time to change us so much from that which was less than a year ago? He was only announced as manager this time last year, 6 months before the season even ended!

In a league that just got a lot more difficult why should we be so arrogant to expect to be doing better when virtually the only difference in the team to last time around is Stones? We have had 30+ games since he started, it is almost impossible for him to of stamped any real authority on the team.

I don't think we are going backwards but I definitely think moving us forwards has been far more difficult than he ever thought and his learning curve has been steep. Hopefully with this year not having a Euros or World Cup it will give him the time he needs to really build something and hone it.

Remember he had a preseason of less than a month with some players not even taking part because of the Euro's and since then it has been relentless.

Personally no matter what I won't judge him on this season, I will judge him on the next when he has had a chance to get his feet under the table and spend time working with the players.
Thanks. Balanced reasoning.

He's learning he said that himself that's why I'm optimistic

Changing the team every single week isn't adapting it's called experimenting

Pulling away from the high press because it's not effective against English teams is adapting.

Pulling the midfield back to make the team more compact and win more second balls is adapting.

Pushing Bravo and the defence further back because they're not quick enough to play a high line is adapting.

If you can't see that he's made a series of big adaptations to his usual team than I recommend actually looking for them instead of just regurgitating whatever some rent-a-gob on BT sports tells you. They are incredibly obvious changes he's made across the season, and he's even talked about them in interviews, there's no excuse for anyone who calls themselves a city fan believing the bullshit about him being stubborn.

Similarly, his constant changes aren't experimenting, that's more bullshit from pundits who don't know what they're talking about. He constantly rotated at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, when his teams were at their peak and he knew everything about them. Rotating players, tactics and formations isn't experimenting, it's adapting to the opposition and it's what has made him the best.

There was nothing baffling about it, it may not work out as he hoped, even that's debatable. But that doesn't make the decision to replace Hart wrong. Lucky you're not the Sheik, he can see a bit longer term than you.
