Peter Drury replaces Martin Tyler on Sky Sports

Coleman will always be the best. “Jones has got behind - Clarke…..ONE nil (Leeds v Arsenal ) Newcastle were undressed (Liverpool v Newcastle) goals pay the rent and Keegan gets his share. Keegan two, highway one, Liverpool three Newcastle none.
What a goal (Charlton, Man U v liverpool). Simple stuff, but in the circumstances with a slight pause he made it incredible exciting and memorable whatever team you supported. Porterfield - one nil! Quantarino opening his legs to show his class proved he could do it commentating on other sports too…..I’m sure there were more Coleman balls if you could oblige please?
He was quite remarkable………

Coleman and Davies are the best I've ever heard.but I constantly get them confused.
One of them commentated on the Everton 2 City 2 81 FA cup quarter final at Goodison, prob the most exciting City game ,in my life....,that I wasn't present at,...watching it even now on YT still sends shivers down by back..was so proud of City that day,and that pride swelled further when in later years I spoke to Blues who went to the match and the trouble they had ..all day
The commentator states
"Its bedlam on and off the pitch, all around the ground"
Didn't seem to bother Gerry Gow.a hero of mine at the time.

Think Coleman did the City 5 Notts county 1 match for Sportsnight
I was allowed to stay up late to watch it,Dennnis Tueart scored 4,but it was unsung home grown blue Dave Bennet who broke the deadlock
Funny how certain matches stay in your mind,Tony Coleman made the league cup 4th round in 80/81 seem like the World Cup final.....I've Just mentioned two scintillating matches there that are in my memory bank for ever...it's a pity the Granada documentary " City" from 1980/81 couldn't find time or space for either match ...didn't fit the doom and gloom approach they had set out for us when the camera was rolling.
I digress.
Coleman’s first love was athletics. He moved out of commentary and into presenting - apart from athletics - a lot sooner than he really ought to have done tbh.

Is that where Steve Wright is now? If so, I might have a dabble.
No. He’s not on there.

He still does his Sunday Love Songs on Radio Two, but nothing else, although he did present the countdown of the country's favourite Queen singles a few weeks ago, also on Radio Two.

Boom is great. It plays music from the 50s to the late eighties/early nineties and some of the best new music.

Nicky Horne, who is on from 4:00 to 6:00pm every weekday, is excellent.

Have a listen; you’ve nothing to lose, except maybe a couple of hours.

Ok cheers. Yep, I have enjoyed Horne in the past tbf.

Shame that. Sunday Ballads doesn’t appeal to me, but I would listen if he did a ‘regular show’
