Peter Walton

Agger also had a 10 minute spell in the second half where he made 4 challenges that should have earned yellow cards. The first near the linesman and we got the foul but he just blocked our player so should of been carded. There was the blatent holding on Adebayor when he would have been clean on goal - the one where he became free and Skrtel got across just as Adebayor was about to shoot.

Then there was the penalty shout and even after that he went through another one of our players and came away without a booking. If he had got a booking for the first he would have had the worry of getting caught on the next 2 which would have both created scoring opportunities.

Another thing that the reports on Sky and BBC internet sites appear to have forgot to mention was the Skrtel header in the first half came from a corner that should have been a goal kick!

Normally I have a gripe about poor referee decisions but at least reflect on other decisions where the referee has been equally poor for the other team but cannot think on many today.

Missed two blatent penatlies (although thanks Yossi for staying up), mascherano should have seen straight red for the assault on Barry, and missed quite a lot of other fouls, although TBF he did try and let the game go (which wasnt easy against a Liverpoo side whose main tactic seemed to be foul on rota).
The commentators on the feed i was using seemed to think it was a dissapointing game?
Have they not seen either side in the last month or so?

(oh and they cost me over £500)

I was right behind that tackle and Kompany pulled out, and that is why Benayoun stayed on his feet. He was all set to go down thinking Vinny was going to go through with the tackle.
I think Vinny pulled out of it too. The reason Yosser stayed on his feet was he had just been booked and would have got a second yellow for diving IF Walton had seen it as a dive too.
All in all Walton was awful but I thought the linesman in front of the East Stand was even worse if possible.

MKascherano and Benayoun should've walked. The Argentine's challenge was nothing but assault and Banayoun after getting booked kicked out at Zab.

Also Liverpool was allowed to play advantage but whenever we had a foul committed against us and still had the ball further up the pitch Walton would call it back.

I honestly believe after this game and last seasons corresponding fixture that Walton is a Liverpool fan. Worst performance i have seen from a referee

Very strange decisions today for both teams, how he let that challenge go on Barry on the edge of the box and then book Torres for a little push on Lescott was beyond me
i thought that? hows veronica doing anyway

I didn't think Walton was inept... i thought he was blatently cheating. I've not seen PL officilas get such obvious decisions so wrong, so oftn, so one sided.

He made us bring a short free kick back as it was a foot too far forward yet thier goalkeeper took goalkicks whilst the ball moved, gained yards on throw ins, and took many quick free kicks far from where any foul was judged to have been commited.

The consistent fouling of Adebayor for Given's distribution went unpunished and unnoticed, Gerrard's dive went unpunished, Torres and mascherano should both have seen red, apparently flicking the V's to assistant referee's is ok now if you're on a yellow.

On th flip side, Kompany went into a challenge that on anothr day could have been a card, and Liverpool dived and went down too easily all game, both sides were told to get up, even if they were hacked down.

It was the worst refereeing performance i've seen for a long time, more for the seemingly blatant cheating at times than simple idiocy.

Walton was a fcuking disgrace today.he seemed to lose the plot early on,then continue to fcuk everything up.he gave fouls the wrong way (in equal measure to both teams),fcuked up any chance of either team playing an advantage, and seemed to sacred to show that vicious little cnut maschterbation the card he deserved-would love to see him one on one with ndj tho, nige would tear him a new one!

Having said this,Walton could not have fcuked the game up so monumentally without the help of his sh1thouse mate with a flag-considering he looked like one of the fitter linos in the league,he seemed incapable of keeping up with the play.

Another good day for keith hackett's band of (biased and entirely incompetent yet some how still) merry men.fcuking useless.but thats ok,because its what we're used to.

Absolute howler from the bloke. One of the worst performances I've seen all season, and I mean that completely neautrally. Vile creature.

how was that blatent push on ade not a penalty, anywhere else on the pitch and its a free kick the cnut!!

This particularly beggars belief. Two handed push, the player goes down. Texted my lad at 2.50 - "Blatant pen, Oh no sorry we aint kicked off yet" but there was the blatant pen. Too many refs drive to a game setting an agenda that specifies no penalties unless a defender cuts an attacker's throat, or fists the ball from under the bar with all the theatricals necessary for even the likes of Attwell, Crappenburg, Wiley, and now Walton not to be able to turn a blind eye and ignore it.

It is a truism that as this season draws to a close, we are getting a poorer display of the referee's art with every passing game. Each ref displays a more woeful performance than the hapless cretin from the previous match.

You could be right,i was right near the corner with my uncle and felt obliged to point out the useless flag waving bast4rd's multiple failings.he was almost as shit as Walton!the poor lad is probably gutted that his outstanding ineptitude has been overshadowed by Walton.

How the linesman or him for that matter didn't see that the ball went atleast a yard off the field when Shaun was at the by-line, utterly laughable.

Plus, the linesman on the East stand side wouldn't make his own decisions until Walton would, which was bloody dangerous.

This linesman; Gave throw when Gerrard lunged in on Lescott (?) and was rightly booked by Walton. He was 10 yards from this foul.
Should have flagged for penalty for push on Ade. He had best view.
Kuyt 4 or 5 yards off in first half. Missed it.
Gave corner which obviously came off Kuyt for goal kick (even dippers were running back to halfway)
Gave Mascerranno freekick for blatant dive right in front of him in last minute.
Plus numerous others. Either totally incompetent or bent.

as a fellow referee,I sometimes look at a game from a refs point of view with the intense pressure they are under these days, but today we all was a witness to the most incompetent display from a referee ever.Incontistent doesnt come close, missed challenges letting them go unpunished.First thing I noticed was telling the City player EXACTLY where to take a throw but then letting the pool player take numerous steps. The bennayoun penalty I feel would have been given if he hadnt been so biased towards them before, and tried to even it up,but so many wrongs dont make a right. He reffed the game at Sunderland about 2 years ago when 2 city players within seconds were cruelly upended, one was Corluka (near the benches)with Mark Hughes seen to mouth the words 'Unbelievable'.Think it was SWP debut.
