Pitch Invasion?

How difficult can it be to have hinged poles with stong netting attached that can be raised as extra time is announced?

The pillocks would still try and show off but it would make it infinitely harder.

Wouldn't surprise me if we start seeing the first few rows blocked out in future for key matches like these, like with the away fans in SSL2 for FA Cup games. Going to be a terrible look but cheaper and probably more effective than having banks of stewards.
If that happens I really will get hacked off!!! I’ve been on that front row for a long, long time and why should we have to move because some people can’t control themselves?

FFS!

Don’t fuck about with hinged pole netting, just put up fences again or dig a fire pit or a metal spiked moat around the pitch.

The over reaction by some posters on this thread to a once in a season pitch invasion is laughable.

For key matches. Key matches! United? Liverpool? Arsenal? Spurs? Do you mean one title winning match a season when City are at home on the last day of the season? City were away on the last day of last season at Brentford. City might be away on the last day of next season. If City are away next season it will be 1 final day pitch invasion in 3 seasons. Do you really think City are going to put nets across seating or block seats of to stop 1 possible pitch invasion?

I'm not saying it has been mentioned or anything like that, and hopefully it won't, but I realised during covid that some people just don't seem to have the ability to link actions together to arrive at a scenario, it's not necessarily their fault, it's the way their brains work I assume, but even if they themselves might be totally safe, others who follow may be as thick as two short planks. Usually people who would be candidates for the annual Darwin Award.

Of course some think this is just a laugh, but in the world of health and safety and risk assessment that we now (thankfully) live in, this is an uncontrolled situation, and they don't like things like that. If the cost of extra stewarding costs more than the income generated by a few seats at the front and some netting and mitigates the risk, then which way do you think the club might choose?

You missed the bit out 'key matches like these', meaning where there is a likelihood of a pitch invasion, also the bit where I said "I wouldn't be surprised" so it's not a prediction. I'm not personally bothered too much myself. Went on the pitch once in 2014 (I think) because I didn't want to do it in 2012 but was a bit unimpressed so haven't bothered since but if it happens in the future I'll probably just make a quick exit and go home like lots seemed to do on Sunday (including some who went on the pitch first THEN buggered off) and watch the trophy lift later on telly. It's on the opposite side to me anyway and I am usually baked in the sun by then plus I've seen enough now to last me a lifetime. Just hope the players don't get too upset at the empty seats others bang on about (I don't). I can also afford the increase in season tickets every year so not worried if extra costs get passed onto me either but plenty are vocal about £50 every year (I'm not).
