Pitch invasions

Embarrassing

I’ve been on the pitch myself a few times in the past, but it was largely spontaneous celebrations after big results on the day/night (Wigan, Birmingham, QPR, Villa).

Today felt a bit different because the title was already won, so told my son I didn’t think a pitch invasion would even take place. When it did there was obviously no way I could be arsed myself, but he’s young and went for it so won’t begrudge him that. I’d have done the same at his age.

Still annoyed me a bit though as it seemed a bit unnecessary and forced in the circumstances, plus it delayed the presentation. That’s maybe just me being curmudgeonly though.

Felt to me like the stewards weren’t really that bothered anyway. They were letting people past with no resistance, and in some cases practically helping others. Don’t blame them given the money they’re on, and maybe they’re even instructed not to object forcibly.

Wouldn’t even surprise me if, deep down, City don’t mind these things. For a club accused of lacking passion or authenticity (whatever that means), they’re probably not averse to images going worldwide of thousands of Blues storming the pitch with smoke bombs etc.

Anyway, in conclusion it was mildly annoying but no real harm done.

exactly

But you weren’t even at the match. Plastic fan who just goes so he can say he invaded the pitch. Hilarious

What the fuck are you on about? I first started going when Joe Royle was the manager. How am I plastic fan? I couldn’t go today because I was with family. with my dad for example who went home and away for 30 years, but I guess he’s plastic according to you…

I didn’t invade the pitch today… but I don’t have a problem with it. As it’s been happening for decades.

You’re hilarious mate. Sounds like your about 10

We've invaded the pitch on the last game of the season since the world began....that's what.

we've just won the league and people tend to get giddy so perhaps cricket is best for you? I looked at your username as well as a clue.
We were dressing in animal skins and killing animals by bludgeoning them to death when the world began. So should we go back to those days?

I'll start with Derby away and Stoke away ...late 70's.

Derbys last home game and they went on...so we did.

Stoke.....Boothen end invaded.

To be fair the rest werent always last games of the season.
Sorry to be the pedant (not really) but only time we played Stoke or Derby on the last day in the 70s was Derby away in 1972…

We did play them away three games before the end in 1980, though.

Have checked btw - even my memory isn’t that good!
