PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Everton's 10 point deduction was based on how much they had lost.
Do we know how much they and forest have lost this time?
Everton are miffed because not only were the goal posts moved, but they’re now being punished AGAIN by including two of the seasons for which they were already punished…and one of which they might still be punished again next season!!

One wonders how both clubs voted on these rules…oh wait, Forest didn’t get a vote and Everton were all in favor!

Irony, huh?!

These extra charges to other clubs have me worried.
With all the press surrounding it and asking what about city makes me feel we will be found guilty through association.
The IC thinking well if Everton and forest are guilty then so must city.
Like your mates being involved in a fight and you just being there gets you a guilty verdict.
It will be very hard for the IC to block out all these reports , independent regulatory and fans statements for it not to affect our outcome
If that was the case everyone before the court would be either guilty or innocent based on the previous relevant case KCs dont work like that

So opposition fans think the majority owner of our club a man who makes money in virtually every venture he goes into is now happy enough to just throw millions and millions of pounds by giving sponsors money to pay the club paying players and managers extra money in brown envelopes every week so his football club can avoid ffp sanctions. A man who is a member of the Royal family and also 1 of 3 deputy prime ministers of the UAE. I'm quite surprised he's not been suspended from his job when you think we are taking fraud on a mass scale here. What would happen if the deputy prime minister of the united kingdom was under investigation for major fraud of 14 years??.
They’re just fucking idiots mate.

A few points come out of the select committee hearing today….

Masters is out of his depth.
Parry thinks Masters is clueless - he’s right on that
The select committee have limited insight and knowledge
The issues between the PL and the EFL show it was the creation of the PL that is the problem (ironic that Parry is now speaking for the EFL given he’s the chief villain).
these two will never come to an agreement- it’s clear Masters hands are tied and the hard up red shirts are playing a delaying tactic.
An independent regulator is inevitable.
Masters being cross examined by our Lord Pannick, oh how i wish that was televised

How can the PL possibly find us innocent, it would surely cause the end of the PL.
It's only a personal opinion and won't add anything to the debate on here but i fully expect us to be found guilty of something & hit hard, fuck knows what that will be but it won't be shit like relegation to league 2 or trophies taken off us.

Just like BBC United, the Daily United is a Rag and Scouse infested media company.

This is the last comment under the article. No more comments are being allowed, even though I have left some comments.

No surprise it's from a Liverpool fan. Note the the green and red likes and dislikes, 3 to 1.

The football media have done a sterling job on behalf of the PL and the red shirt clubs.

Yep. We are universally hated. Guilty until proven innocent, and even then it’ll simply be dismissed as a “crooked oil cheating sportwashing rich club” paying off the panel.

Wish I could be philosophical about it like others, but I find it exhausting and demoralising in equal measure.

It’s all a media hyperbole. The lawyers will follow the process and we gotta hope the independent panel is independent. The league can’t make up infringements out of nothing, well they can but will be made to prove their allegations by city’s defence team. You can’t just say we think you have cheated but prove no substance. They either have proof or they don’t. Shit or get off the pot.

Richard Masters has never done anything to make me think he's more of a football fan than refer to those clubs as small.

Clubs will be called small compared to City in stadiums, bars, clubhouses, u9 pitches, dinner tables, pubs, twitter, the newspapers, TV, podcasts. By managers, owners, players, pundits, journalists and fans.

And yet an executive says it everyone pretends they would never dare to refer to another club as small and it's really just not on. How could anyone in charge of a business where some teams earn £850m a year and £400m wage bills while some earn £100m and spend £50m a year refer to one as being bigger than the other? How can a club with 9 league titles be referred to as bigger than a club with none? How could a club with a 60,000 seater stadium by bigger than Luton?

The abosolute definition of manufactured and performative outrage.

He may have been right, I am not sure it was too smart.

Did anyone know this?

Will his expertise be useful in our case, even though we've hired top barristers and lawyers, independent of the club?

Great innit? Just think for a min that someone out there is actually thinking and typing this shit. Martin, Alice and watcher pie are all gullible fucktards. The human race ladies and gentlemen…

We gave far too much credit to our opponents and that includes the league, masters, Gill, Parry and the fans of the red shite. They know nothing.

City will prevail, not because we have the best lawyers but because we have played the game within the sphere of the bent rules. The man at the top said we are sick of the accusations and have done nothing wrong. That should be enough for most people. Until a credible case is brought against the club I see no reason to doubt Khaldoon’s original claim.

Show me in black and white the proof mansour has been paying everyone off!

Until then…

A lot of innocent people have been convicted over the years in cases where there has been huge media and public pressure. Hysterical press coverage is a common theme in miscarriages of justice (remember the Birmingham six). Emotion always plays a part in legal cases despite the best intentions of Judges and juries to remain impartial.
We have no idea how the internal dynamics will work with an "independent" panel selected by the Premier League itself.
Spot on. It seems that they will have to find us guilty of at least some of the charges and they will feel the need to punish us to the max. The hatred being generated is quite irrational and sensible judgement has been suspended. It is going to be hard to get out of this one without suffering major grief.

Agree with what you say, but do we really want this government getting involved what at the end of the day is the most successful league in the world?

They *uck up everything they get involved in.

I said this a while back on this very forum.
The idea that businessmen of this stellar stature, who have some of the most powerful leaders in the world on speed-dial and who deal in eye-watering sums of money and who, if they felt a bit tetchy, could ruin national economies, would indulge in amateurish, sub Arthur Daly scams and would leave a trail even the great brains at the PL could follow.
I suppose it could be the greatest double-bluff ever seen……….. but I doubt it!

Is it a fair article only the athletic haven’t been fair with any football finances when City are concerned.
It explains that City’s case and Everton & Forests are different, both in scope and timeline, and the reason for the near term punishments is they are near term exceedances to which the PL teams had agreed. City’s is a historical claim related to past supposed indiscretions that are not only different in scope and scale, but time…as in they pre-date the the PSR under which Everton & Forest are being charged.

In short, it explains the irony that FFP was introduced to STOP CITY (and PSG) from crashing the UEFA Cartel Party, but was unsuccessful and now City ARE part of the Cartel, at least in terms of our record breaking revenues, so these rules will never ensnare us while catching clubs of the same profile as City in the 2006-2010 period of ownership transition and spend to improve!

It is only now, I think, that some City fans are starting to realize just how important the Top 4, the Champions League, and repeatedly getting to the latter stages of it, have been to the Club.

The revenue generated just from going deep is a regular €100M pay day. Then, you get to “inflate” your current Commercial Revenues and generate significantly more due to the global success of the competition.

For example, using numbers pulled from my arse, the sleeve sponsor stops being a €5M sponsor and becomes a €10M sponsor. Your game shirt main sponsor becomes a €50M/yr sponsor instead of a €15M/yr sponsor, and so on…

In short, CL success, combined with PL success, coupled with a high profile manager and a few superstar players, has created a commercial juggernaut that has grown exponentially rather than incrementally, and put us at the zenith of financial sustainability.

From here, we don’t need massive growth to be able to compete for everything, we just need to sustain our level of income from outside sources.

Soon, you may also be able to add an event venue and hotel to that mix, as well as another 5,000 seasoncards!

For most “average” clubs, maintaining PL status keeps them ticking along nicely, and the parachute payments help the yo-yo clubs stay competitive.

However, for the Top 6 or 8 clubs vying for the title, a domestic trophy, or European qualification, the commercial rewards from those things might mean the difference between viability and an FFP/PSR violation! The trick is to try to qualify BEFORE you spend like you already have. This is the problem Chelsea might face and, were the Glazer’s not usurping the concept through debt , United’s CL demise would exacerbate.

I’m not opposed to clubs being run in a conservative manner, but I am opposed to club’s not being allowed to accept significant financial inputs from either owners or outsiders. It’s how British clubs traditionally grew, and is certainly how the current elite teams became who they are!

No but the club finds itself in the firing line and we need something to change going forward. The jealousy is off the scale and the premier league is bought and paid for by Sky, Liverpool and United.

City need to be on a more level playing field behind the scenes. Plus the government are a corrupt greedy bunch so at least we know how to deal with them on that level. Mainly throwing money at the UK.

Currently we are being nibbbled at from all corners. Abit like a Komodo dragon biting its prey until they finally fall.

Some city fan is going to get a pasting as a direct result of their toxic lies, as you say time for action. Obviously, you'll get some say that it will only make it worse - but i don't think it could be any worse, bit like the guy shouting Jehovah in life of brian!
I said it on the barcode thread after the game
The hatred towards us from there fans on the way home on the train was unbelievable
Luckily I couldn’t give a fuck I just laughed it off, this is when they pipe down when they realise most of us couldn’t care a less what they think it’s just a shame they can’t see it for what it is instead of spouting shite about us
