In days gone by City couldn't match the spending power of the rags.
That was ok, we were 'ickle City' back then and posed no real threat.
The only time that we had a chance to show them who we were, was in derby matches and those matches were highlights of our season.
We were mocked and belittled by them, but in those derby matches we had a chance to lay a glove and bruise their arrogant egos, which brought immense satisfaction when we won. That was all we had.
CIty had a youth team which occasionally yielded a gem of a player and quite an astute scouting network which found talents too.
When the rags heard of such players we had, or were looking to buy they would swoop in, vulture like, to steal them away from us.
They could do this because they had more money than we did, had won more trophies and were perceived as being the bigger club.
This has proved to be their downfall, at least in part.
"Ooh City have an eye on so and so have they? Well we'll put a stop to that!"
The rags used every trick in the book to take players to the dark side, inducements ( some may say bribes), better contracts. Wilson and Berbatov were notable examples.
Where the rags got their information as to who we were after who knows? Spies in our camp perhaps?
Anyway, we got lucky, a smart new stadium, money and a strategy. Players actually chose to come to City rather than the rags, Sergio, David and others could see where the future lay and it wasn't at that murky swamp.
We were sooo lucky it was unreal.
Bobby knitted everything together, refused to be overawed by the GPC and tore down their outrageous banner. The rags were furious!
City were on the up now and we had to be stopped, but how?
Pep ultimately arrived.
Rags (and dippers) making sure that we didn't get players we were after by using previously mentioned tactics. Slabhead, Sanchez and Fred all lured away by the rags coin (that turned out well!), and van Dyck to the dippers. ( How only the dippers were found guilty of profiting from accessing our database I do not know!)
FFP. Accusations UEFA Der Spiegl (more hacking) overvalued sponsorships (erm Audi anyone?!)
Mourinho, another failure in the rags quest to try and get back to the summit of football (Other notable failures include Pogbad and PR7).,
More dubious accusations now from the P/L.
Winning the chumps league, the treble, has put City at the top of the football pyramid now and we aren't going anywhere!
P.S. If City hadn't challenged and broken that cosy little clique, (rags, dips, arse) we would be a lot further along the road to Americanisation of the beautiful game and what true football fan wants that?
