PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Reading between the lines here with a bit of creative license. The PL have requested information off us over the past 4 years covering the period since take over. We’ve been a bit reluctant, in some requests to provide it, perhaps we got bored of thousands of requests or believe we’d already provided sufficient evidence. The PL have decided to charge us as we have failed, in their opinion, to reasonably supply the requested documents rather than the PL having actual evidence to support wrong doing.

The club, for their part, believe we have all the evidence to disprove these allegations.
The term "going on a fishing trip" is what you are talking about. Auditors do it if you provide them with more information than you have to.

We are under no obligation to pony up everything the PL asks for. Its for them to show proof that we have done something wrong not the other way around.

Which in itself is corrupt?
Of course it's corrupt. Just look at VAR, for example. VAR has been implemented (deliberately IMO) in the best possible way to support match-fixing. Were they truly interested in fairer decisions, it would not all be behind closed doors and free of scrutiny. That's just one example.

Going back a few years you had things like David Gill sitting on the board of the FA, whilst still an active board member of Manchester United Football Club Ltd. A disgraceful conflict of interest that should never have been allowed, and yet so deep is the corruption, it was never even questioned.

I could go on and on. The whole sport is riddled with corruption from top to bottom.

That's how I would feel if I was a City fan, but I can understand if people feel persecuted by authorities when you're constantly under the microscope. I see people say, 'oh have you seen bluemoon, totally delusional people over there, proper tinfoil hat stuff' but having spent years posting here and seen it from your perspectives, I kind of get why your immediate reaction is distrust of the PL and their investigation.

It's really sad that so many of us are fucking financial fair play experts. We should have been enjoying the greatest period in the club's history but yet we're under this cloud consistently. Even when we win the case at CAS against UEFA, it's claimed we got off on a technicality and clearly were still guilty. Football is tribal and there's always something to throw at a rival. You'll have experienced the money accusations as a Chelsea fan, but you didn't have these measures in place when Abramovich came in, and you didn't see the constant tweaking of rules to try and stifle your objectives.

Even now, there's a lot of head scratching about how you spent so much, but it's not hugely negative. We'd be absolutely destroyed if we'd done the same.

When you're constantly reading anti-City press, you're going to believe we're guilty. No one has a fucking clue what the UEFA case was about or what the ruling was or meant but they want to believe it. Funnily enough it's the same people who view FIFA as corrupt for giving the world cup to Qatar. Something proven in the subsequent years. Yet they believe that UEFA and the PL don't operate in the same way!

30 charges relate to non-compliance with the investigation.

25 relate to profit and sustainability.

5 relate to the non-compliance with UEFA, which we were already fined for.

12 relate to breach of details on how much was paid to players between 2010-2016

8 relate to breach the details of how much was paid to managers between 2009-2013

50 relate to accuracy of financial reports to the PL.

Like I said, good luck proving that City concealed payments to players and managers, also good luck proving that City inflated profits.

They will find us guilty on non-compliance however I doubt it will be on the 30 charges.

Thanks mate very useful. But when did the premier league ffp rules come into force? Don’t some of these charges predate that?
