PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I would imagine Salford have higher revenue than traditional clubs like Oldham & Notts county. He’s built the brand & yet he can’t see in a similar timescale what we’ve done.
He has a blind-spot when it comes to City and United.

His allegiance is so strong in his mind, and he bought into the Trafford kool-aid about being “the biggest club in the world” and supposedly doing things the right way, and he can’t quite align it with the reality that in the end even he has more or less woken up to.

I’m pleasantly surprised by his more recent comments, he has defended us, he’s acknowledged that even the premise of FFP is flawed, but also that we have stuck to it only to be targeted by crooks who have always had a lot of power in the game.

He has to throw in the bizarre half-backtrack that allows him to see United at the top in his fantasy scenario, just for his own sanity, but he could have piled on like many in the media and instead chose to take a stand.

Tbf to the guy, you said a Tesco branch which is the thing that raised eyebrows, not the whole company. Surely you aren't doing a dom and moving the goalposts?

:)
Repeating myself here. The response did not quote the T/O of a large branch but quoted market cap, so I replied on market cap.

Bayern Munich have bigger revenues on sponsorship than City. This is Bayern Munich playing in the Bundasliga which is a mere back water than no one cares about globally compared to the Premier League. This is Bayern Munich with related parties such as Allianz, Addidas and Volkswagen.

Why would City not winning the Premier league 4 out of 5 times and reaching the latter stages of the champions league not see that turn into revenue and more interested parties wanting to come on board as commercial partners?

If you apply Neville’s logic that clubs who have always dominated will have bigger commercial draw than City, where are Preston North End? Where are AC Milan? The guy is a fucking idiot and I’d be worried if I supported Salford with him in charge.
Correct. Bayern and PSG are the outliers, not City, but he wont have done any homework on that. Just talk from emotion.

Kevin Parker on sky live from the ground saying titles etc not tainted. Firstly make your mind up and secondly you should have told sky to do one. Why would any City fan want to give them any time when they are one of main agenda culprits
I’ve not gone into reading what was said initially by Kevin Parker although I get the gist of it, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he signed something giving the BBC license to edit his comments on pretty much how they see fit, and I know they do this because it was done to my sister many years ago on a programme called ‘The Money Programme’ and made her the target of a ‘hate campaign’

Luckily, she got the chance to redress this on ‘The Wright Stuff’ with Matthew Wright.

Wouldn't worry about anything written by the champagne socialist nutjob that is John Nicholson. He wrote a book a few years ago saying that Premier League footballers should only be allowed to take home a salary of £225k-a-year, giving no regard to the ensuing player exodus that would inevitably follow. In the same book, the salt-of-the-earth Middlesbrough fan admitted to spending four weeks in Las Vegas with his wife and blowing £35k. In other words, a **** and a hypocrite to boot.

I recently travelled across a few Indonesian islands & I can tell him not 1 person mentioned Bobby Charlton or Nobby Stiles & when I said I came from Manchester they said City.

The 3 shirts on sale everywhere were Messi Argentina, Mbappe PSG & Haaland City.

Deep down all the big wigs know, they wouldn’t care if we faked our numbers. They care because they believe every £ we’ve earnt is a £ that they should have earnt.

Boksic was earning that in the 90s at Boro.

I’m sure you can do a bit of long division. Then you will find my point holds good. Furthermore, I was answering a response based on market cap, which is not about a branch.
It was a valuation of the entire club, and in your prior comment you compared the *entire club* to one branch of Tesco.

You were already dealing in apples and oranges

And if we are being pedantic, you were talking value, not market capitalisation seeing as City is a private company.

Just re-read the CAS award again, and found this interesting bit:

"Leaked e-mail number 1 was also sent 10 years ago and 2 years before the implementation of the CLFFPR. So, even if true, there would have been nothing wrong with channeling equity funding through sponsors."

Forgive me for rattling this cage all the time, but doesn't this support my view that, even if the allegations are found to be true, there is no accounting "fraud" as, if there was "nothing wrong" with the accounting treatment before FFP, then, in accounting terms, there is also nothing wrong with the accounting treatment after FFP? Accounting treatments don't change just because UEFA/ the PL implement some new regulations. So it's just a regulatory issue, not a fraudulent accounts issue?

I am still having trouble getting my head around this fraud/ misleading the auditors thing if I am being honest (as you can probably tell!)
Ffp and false accounting (fraud) are separate issues. You can break ffp without committing accounting fraud.
BUT, the current charges against us imply that our accounts are false, as did the UEFA charges.

No, I compared the financial weight of the club with one branch of Tesco which is apples and apples.

The Tesco's super store in Portwood, Stockport, will make a much larger profit that we do.
