PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I'm puzzled as to why we'd set ours at 85% if UEFAs is 70%? Surely you need to go for the 70% or end up doing a Crystal Palace (sort of) and getting banned if you qualify?

The logic is to reduce the gap between the clubs playing in Europe every year and the rest of the league.

It would give Everton for example who don’t have European competition money the ability to keep up with the clubs that do.

It’s not a bad idea but there’s a group of clubs who are sitting top half of the table that will have to decide if they should stick to 70% or spend more to compete risking a problem if they get into Europe unexpectedly

I’d expect them to say nothing, and come out with some bland, anodyne statement about waiting for the verdict before passing comment.

I don’t think the change from PSR to aligning with uefa rules is a new thing.

This was talked about happening a while back and as far as I was aware clubs had been working to try to ensure they was inside the percentage needed for when the prem changes.

Well, the present charges only go up to 2018 as that's when they charged us and they can't just add each season as they go along. So there's that... ;)

Reading the comments it's all City's fault that PSR is being dropped because apparently with have bribed the Premier League to drop the charges. Proof that their campaign to tarnish City has worked with the masses.

We must already comply with the Uefa one as it is, given we are in the CL, so don't think that should be an issue. It was the PL version we had an issue with and demonstrated was unlawful, and then accepted a tweaked version via the settlement. However long for.

Well, APT rules will form part of the SCR rules even if SCR is scrapped so maybe they waited for clarity on the APT case before changing. Not like the PL to wait for confirmation of legality before doing anything though.

What gets me, is that the PL (apparently) say they are coming in line with UEFA rules by doing this. But, unless I am very wrong, and I may be, UEFA rules still include a PSR component that clubs in European competitions will have to meet, so I have no idea what they are talking about / doing .....
