PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The logic is to reduce the gap between the clubs playing in Europe every year and the rest of the league.

It would give Everton for example who don’t have European competition money the ability to keep up with the clubs that do.

It’s not a bad idea but there’s a group of clubs who are sitting top half of the table that will have to decide if they should stick to 70% or spend more to compete risking a problem if they get into Europe unexpectedly
Until it actually works and Everton catch up and get into europe then have to sell their best players to comply and then they are back at square one

I’m guessing they were playing to the audience (you). No way these guys are opening their mouths like this in a public way and yet no media leaks. Just not having it. They know nothing.

Fully agree, they are towing the party line. They have to be seen to be confident. I'm still waiting for Pannick to register on here and tell us how he tore them to shreds in the hearing.

Tbh I think it was basically utd or Liverpool fans that happen to work for the PL, where there's no bias obviously.

“We are talking to our clubs about an alternative system. That's not to say we don't think the PSR system works," Masters told an audience at the Leaders sports conference.

Nothing says that the current system is working like scrapping it and replacing it with an alternative system.

I hope, for the sake of his finances, that Masters doesn't play poker.

If a domestic version of UEFA's Financial Sustainability Regulations were to be introduced – which is actually logical – there would also be a framework around related party transactions and fair value assessment, so in principle APT would not disappear.
Aren't Uefa rules around related party which & although they kicked up a stink about it, Etihad isn't a related party

Maybe an effort to give the clubs outsode the CL places an advantage, to balance lut clubs in the CL having access to more revenue. Possibly.

Not saying I think anything of it as an idea, just trying to imagine the implications.
Wouldn't you trigger the same rule if you entered Europa & Conference leagues

Thanks mate.

You hit on the point that the ‘hard of reading’ seem to have misinterpreted in my original post, which is that these guys weren’t saying ‘the PL has won, City are fucked’, or claiming they’d seen the judgement yet.

They weren’t claiming to be sharing a confidential legal decision not yet in the public domain with me.

What they did do was dismiss City’s position as being a load of hot air which didn’t adequately demonstrate our innocence on the main substance of the charges, and which was perceived (by the PL) as lacking credibility.

They were also generally very confident the PL’s position would be upheld in the final judgement.

But they gave no indication that the judgement was in - so my read was that this wasn’t based on anything more than the internal impressions of the process so far at the PL.

But the PL have consistently been guilty of overconfidence bordering on arrogance through a series of embarrassing and damaging judgements over the last few years, so this doesn’t need to be read as any different from any of that.

Which is the point you’re making.

People seem to be misconstruing my message as saying these guys were sharing the result of the judgement with me - which I never, ever claimed.

Interesting discussion but City’s case and position is largely irrelevant. It’s for the PL to make a case… not accusations, but a case of City acting illegally, thus far it’s been the PLs case that been hot air and lacking in credibility.

Our clubs being united, scousers and arsenal?

Squad cost ratio based on revenue and if you're too shit to get into Europe you can outspend your PL rivals who do by 15% until you catch up. Previous poster mentioned Everton, this proposal is designed to benefit one team and one team only.

20 team league, 3 promoted clubs can be discounted each season as their revenue will not be up to PL level to complete. Leaves 16 rival teams of which minimum of 6 will be in Europe based on league positions and lets face it likelihood is all 8 European spots will be taken by PL clubs (apologies to bring up Wigan in 2013/14 in the UEFA as the only PL era exception I can recall).

This goes through and the Rags can play catch up outspending % wise over half the division, no other reason this is being proposed as the new model. Fans need to wake up at the toffees, Villa and St James Park ASAP.

Reading the comments it's all City's fault that PSR is being dropped because apparently with have bribed the Premier League to drop the charges. Proof that their campaign to tarnish City has worked with the masses.
It was always going to be this way ! they did a number on us and it`s worked the plebs will bend it whichever way they want ,couldn`t give a shit to be honest anymore .
