PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I don’t post this lightly, but having spent the last few days with a couple of people in very senior positions at the PL - they are certainly feeling very confident in their position.

You’d expect that, to a point - and clearly this would only be of note or concern if we are to assume either the result has landed with both City and the PL already ahead of publication, and they are therefore reflecting an informed view - or if, given its imminence, the relevant parties have an early impression of the broad direction the ruling is going to take.

On this - it’s worth reiterating that @slbsn has been pretty clear that he has been told, as of close of play on Friday, neither party had received the result - so I’m hoping he’s right on that, as in that context the views relayed to me could simply be evidence of a general level of bravado/confidence/arrogance on behalf of the PL ahead of publication, and not indicative of any specific knowledge.

It’s also worth saying that I don’t know these people well, so whilst certain comments definitely felt more indiscreet than others - they could also simply be holding an agreed/mandated company line or corporate position on the charges which don’t indicate anything of substance either way.

But I find this unlikely, as I’d expect the company line would be to say nothing - and to hold that they are waiting for the panel to arrive at its judgement before making any substantive comments on the situation.

That said, they were definitely very bullish in tone, and dismissed any view that City’s position on the charges held any credibility whatsoever.
Who let this rag bullshitter on here. OOOOOOOOO MATES....Do fuck off you clown

Go on then Mr Connected - how did you gauge their confidence how did it manifest itself in your mind?

Both sides believe they have won. I’m not sure why that would equate to bullshit or what the poster had to gain by lying. It sounds legit to me but nothing we didn’t already know.

Maybe mate but come on. Been zero leaks anywhere mate
It's not a leak though, which is kind of the point. We've seen similar from our perspective, that we are confident in what the result will be. The delayed pile on looks more suspect than what they posted.

It was independent in the Apt case and the Leicester case. These people are respected and professional KC's to be biased in the case against City is more than their collective reputions are worth.
Yes. Plus they would know that any attempted chicanery could be swiftly pursued by many dollars worth of investigation and ruin...

After having a conversation in the pub last night with someone who knows fuck all about football I can confidentially say that the result of all the 115 charges brought against us will be announced on a day with a " Y " in it.
Don't ask for his name as I won't tell you.
Out on the town with @BlueMoonRisin’ I see... ;-)

I appreciate my post wasn’t delivering the feelgood hit of positive news that everyone wants to hear, which is why people are so quick to attack it - but if you actually take a moment to read the words, rather than just leap straight to a defensive position, you’ll see I’m not claiming this was some exclusive leak of the final result that I was privy to before anyone else.

At no point did I say this.

The impression I got from these guys when discussing the situation was one of bullish confidence in both the PL’s position, and dismissive confidence at the lack of credibility behind any of City’s arguments or evidence to refute the claims.

But at no point did anyone say the result was in, and they were speaking from a position of knowledge of the final outcome.

For me, it was mostly interesting because it suggested - contrary to claims on here - that the result isn’t with either party yet.

Because I would expect these guys to know if it was.

And that was mainly why I posted it.

It was at as time when a few posters were claiming the parties had either received the result, or it was imminent.

And that’s definitely not the impression I got from these conversations I had with these two.
