PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

All this conspiracy nonsense us getting well out of control.

It's not just on here, it's society wide.

Loads of people believing in consipracies that those in charge are playing 4d chess and always colluding so that every possible outcome is thought of and everything that happens is already planned.

He'll spin it as him wholly investigating alleged corruption and thankfully confirming the integrity of the league. I'd like to think he'll go but seems an easy thing to worm out of
It’s the obvious, logical thing to do. However, I wonder if he’s got the smarts for that, which is saying something.
The test will be, should we be largely exonerated, whether he appeals that verdict and, if he does, he’s surely gone.

IF he appeals the verdict it proves conclusively (not that it needed proving) that this was nothing more than a witch hunt against city, if we are largely exonerated he should be bloody ecstatic and say the system is working and that the most prominent and successful club of the last ten years have been exceptionally well run and should be congratulated for that, the **** wont do that but he should.

I doubt either the Lewis or Levy departures were directly related to our case, and certainly not part of any settlement as you put it. I agree that Masters' position becomes untenable though in the event of us being largely cleared.
Not so sure about Masters — he inherited the investigation into City from his predecessor and can claim he’s just been doing his job. Aleksander Čeferin is still the President of UEFA.

There's also this assumption that's set into the thread that City are going to sail away into the sunset victorious whilst smiting all their enemies which I fear is going to leave a lot of people disappointed, whatever the overall outcome.

Well, I think that is understandable considering the media have only ever entertained the idea that we are guilty.

That doesn't make the opposite true.

I'm not saying anything about City's guilt or inoocence. I don't know. But given how far this has come I think the likelihood of a "This was an entirely baseless witch hunt by other clubs" is pretty low.

has he genuinely said that? as thats slander, no ifs, no buts, no maybes, ronay hand in your credentials and dont let the door hit you on the way out.
it looks made up, there's no article with this headline in the Guardians archives going back 18 months

I don't think he'd get away with that, as far as I can tell the Premier League have already investigated us and found us guilty which is why we've had to escalate it to the independent panel.
If, however many years ago this started, the Premier League had come out and said City have been investigated due to concerns raised but we have found no evidence to support this, that was the time for them to issue this statement saying how great it was for the league.
They haven't done that though, so if the Premier League say we've investigated and found City guilty of x,y, and z then the independent panel say there's no evidence of this at all, as happened at CAS with UEFA, then Masters can't put out a positive statement as he will have to defend why we were charged with no evidence.
