PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

It’s worth remembering that it’s not the premier leagues money that they are playing with but the member clubs.
Agreed - but imagine the clubs outside the obvious and how they are feeling if this was just a waste of money to damage our reputation to make the others happy. They all still have to buy into it otherwise there will be claims etc against the PL for wasting others cash.

This was a point that Kieren Maguire made the other week on The Price of Football. For clubs like Brighton, where there is no benefit if we lost all 115 or won all 115, they will wonder why they are having to shell out a seven figure sum when it doesn't impact them.

As an aside, and this may have been discussed before, but we know the PL's costs are shared by its members - what about the clubs like, say, DirtyLeeds, who weren't even in the PL when our "crimes" were said to have been committed. What about teams like Watford or Leicester who were, but are now not part of the league...

My understanding is that the costs are deducted from the pot available for distribution to the clubs in any particular year. So, it will depend when the PL gets/got the bill(s) from their legal team, and when the award is finally made

Is that why united and spurs tried to get themselves relegated last season, get out of not paying, sneaky fuckers!

I'm a bit worried about Burnley attempting to sue Everton for £60m. Everton were punished by the PL who then invited others to punish Everton too (by suing them). That seemed odd but I wondered if they did that with us in mind. We could win this thing by 100 to 15, but could still be punished. What scenario would allow this and is this not the biggest threat? Clubs in England and Europe invited to sue us?

I’d love to see them try if it’s non cooperation, as Trump highlighted Mansour has unlimited cash. How deep are the Glazers, Fenway Sports and Kroenke’s pockets to try and pull on that string.

The PL dont want that. Everrton... They had to find them guilty and punish, open and closed case. City not so, its complicated, much much bigger than the simple breaches.

For the PL these cases hurt. Its why they push them under the carpet over the years. Hand out fines, frame it as minor breaches. (Which goes to show the politics involved in this one given how nucklear they have gone despite the damage to the product).

So, the PL will not want to open that can of worms, it damages them too. I am quite convinced they regret what they have done here, and that they want it to go away -- If possible in an open and closed case where we are guilty as can be.... But that is not the case. But they will still want it to be gone.

That all depends on whether we're found guilty of any of the more serious charges that could arguably have resulted in giving us a sporting advantage. I don't think the Mancini stuff comes close to that but if we were found to have indeed used disguised owner funding then that's serious. However, if we're cleared of all those and only found guilty of non co-operation then there is no sporting advantage gained from that.

It's all a lot more complicated than the Burnley/Everton stuff though. I think Burnley are well within their rights to sue - we can all see that if Everton's 6 point deduction had been applied at the end of the season that the offence occurred in then Burnley would've stayed up and Everton would've gone down so you can see why they feel they may have a case.

I would add that if we're cleared and information comes out where other clubs have conspired to get us nobbled then I'd like to see us sue the fuck out of all those clubs.
