Plans for East/West Stands level 2

I guess City would like to do something similar but I really don't think we have the demand from that type of supporter. Maybe that's what the club think we will have when we start winning things.

Like was said at last night's meeting, the Arsenal's and United's of this world have the prawn sandwich brigade because they have long periods of success behind them in order to build this 'corporate experience'. We don't have this, yet seem to be wanting to build it up without even thinking about whether they will attract enough silent people in suits.

their not just doing it on a whim they would of have this season and next to attract these people.

the people who run city now aint stupid

the east stand exec rarely if ever sells out, in fact i can count four games this season that it has. the west stand exec and directors seats again hardly ever sell out, alhtough the 130 empty seats minimum is due to the bright spark who designed the stadium not including enough space for the appropriate number of tables and chairs back of house to accommodate each person.

i woudl seriously like to know where this 'demand' for exec seating has come from all of a sudden. this all smacks of something theyd do at old trafford with scant if any regard for the common man fan. i think the whole idea stinks of money grabbing greed.

I agree with majority of your post.

I can add though that part of the plan is to create more "budget exec" seats where you don't have to have a meal etc.

City are aware that they have too many high quality exec seats that don't get taken, as you quite rightly point out, and therefore they will introduce tiered exec seats, idea being you pay more to sit closer to the half-way line plus optional extras.

I think in the long run the club's idea was "it's get the pain over with now" and once the stadium expansion plans become apparent it will make more sense - do agree though with someone else's point that maybe it would have been prudent to wait until the expansion is underway or done before starting the changes on pricing.

Just hoping when my pricing comes through in the next few weeks they don't slap me too hard.

So the way i see it.
The North stand over 16s will get moved this season
Level 2 East/West will get moved next season (or pay alot more money and sit with suits)

Where are we all going to go

yeh, but even if the 'budget' exec seats sell out, you still have the original problem, as shown this season, of the normal exec seats not selling out. which leads back to my original point, that is what is the need to do it in the first place? the demand just aint there. to me it is simply pricing the working class fan out of seats with a good view. again, it stinks of corporate greed, slapping the people who have provided the life blood of the club in the face. we aint skint, we aint got bailiffs banging down the door to get money owed so why do this so soon. there is no need, it is pr disaster and i cant believe the club have been so short sighted and stupid.

sorry mate, I wasn't overly clear but City are taking away some of the "top exec" seats (heavily padded ones) to make room for more "budget exec" seats.

the heavily padded seats are only a small section of about five rows in the west stand, the remainder are slightly padded, as is the entire east exec. incidentally you can sit in east exec and purchase a non-meal seat so i guess they are just extendign this option on both sides and refurbing the concourses into seated bar areas (??). either way im presuming from what you are saying that it is the south sided stand that is going to be extended (??). i was told last week from some one at the club who works as an ambassador, that the ground is definately going to be extended to 65,000. no stand was specified though, do you have the inside track on this?

but, yeh i sort of knew this is what you were getting at.

Having had the pleasure to speak with Danny Wilson at the club today - and it was a pleasure, he was very helpful and good to speak to - I thought I would share some information regarding the plans for level 2 of the East/West stands.

I currently sit in the East Stand, block 204, and had asked how level 2 was going to be "revamped", how this would alter prices, and if this would affect the whole tier, or just certain blocks. Having e-mailed the club, it was a welcome surprise that Danny contacted me by telephone to discuss this.

Prices are not yet decided so it's difficult to say what will happen there, however obviously there will be an increase. In terms of how the area is going to be changed, again this is currently under consideration. Things being looked at as potential options are padded seats, programmes on arrival, more & better options for food/drink, improved concourses etc. Lap-dancers were not mentioned. So I guess this will be decided and communicated in due course.

The information I really wanted to know was how much of level 2 would be changed, so I knew if my seat would be at risk here. From 2011/12, the whole of East/West stands level 2 will be included in the "premium" area, not just the central blocks as I was hoping. So if you are currently sitting anywhere in level 2 of the East/West stand, you might want to think about either paying more from 2011/12 onwards for an improved experience, or relocating to what will soon be classed as a "regular" seat elsewhere.

Personally, money talks and I will probably have to move to another seat to ensure I avoid a potentially hefty increase.

Thanks to Danny for listening to my views and giving me his, I hope the information above helps a few fellow blues.

top bloke danny from all i hear. what the club are trying to do here i think is give fans advance notice now rather than allowing fans to renew and some move this season and then springing the bigger picture next season by which time some of the options open to fans now will not be - thus leading to another load of whining about why the club didn't tell me of their plans a year ago etc etc.

let's face it, there is progress all around our club and making changes to stadium segements is part of this.

i think our management clearly know what they are doing - it's just that a lot of the vocal minority on here don't like change - even if this represents progress.

I would love to know how City have arrived at this decision based on a supposed survey.

As a season-ticket holder, I never received one, there must be plenty more?

.

Well I received one and filled it in but do NOT remember any questions about seating arrangements. They asked about season ticket prices and if we thought the different levels of prices would work, i.e. the cheaper season ticket without loyalty points. They did, if I remember rightly, ask one question about a family stand but, as that didn't apply to me, I just gave a neutral answer. I really wish now that I had saved the pages as I answered the questions. There were questions about corporate as well but I answered no to those because like most people I want City to stay City not rags mark 2!!
