Player thread: Samir Nasri (2014/15)

Re: Samir Nasri

He simply took responsibility for his own form, which is the adult thing to do.

I don't recall his ever saying he played better because of Mancini's public outburst. In fact, I think he said it was difficult for him to accept anything RM was saying.

Re: Samir Nasri

He played really well against Swansea. The first time he has done enough in a home game since Chelsea (H) in the premier League winning season.
He could still improve mind - the number of times he failed to track back after losing possession was still too high mind.

That said a huge improvement. More of the same please.

I think you are being very harsh on him, he has been excellent this season as a whole. Also he is one of the people who covers the most territory in our recent games I think.

Samir is on fire atm for both City and France

... we need to be clear about his role ... attacking mid...

He was back and covering for Clichy on more than one occasion yesterday... so let's not..

there's more than 1 way to skin a cat and i doubt the first thing rm did was call out nasri in public - we dont know what went on behind the scenes before then

we can only take nasris word for it and as karen says, he says it had an impact - job done whether fan of tactic or not

I don't recall him ever saying it had a positive impact. Find me a link please.

"I didn't take it wrongly. He is the manager, he can say whatever he wants. I agreed with him. I knew. Sometimes I don't need him to tell me because I'm professional. When I go home, I watch the games again because I love football. I watch every game: second division, Premier League.

"I know if I've played well or if I've played s*** and, for eight months, I wasn't good. I didn't deserve to be in the national team. So I understand what the manager was saying because it must be frustrating when you have a quality player and he doesn't perform and you don't know why because you try to play him there; play him there, but he still doesn't perform."

However, it is fair to say that in the intervening two-year period, the Italian and his playmaker did not see eye to eye, with Mancini even publicly rebuking Nasri last season for not trying hard enough for the team.

“Every single player has an ego so maybe to touch the ego of the player so that he can have a positive reaction – that’s what happened with me,” said Nasri.

Re: Samir Nasri

Can you post the link pls. Important so context of an isolated quote is not lost.

You mean it's important so that you don't look like a tool?

Too late for that I'm afraid.

Well your last post just revealed who the tool is. Resorting to unprovoked abuse is always the sign of a weak argument and a weaker person.

And here's an internet 101 tip since you seem to be a rookie: nobody with any substance posts random quotes without a source.

Took me 2 mins to find the quotes YOU asked for, if you were really bothered I imagine it would have taken you the same time and effort.

They can hardly be random when they are what you asked for. You didn't believe 2 separate posters who have no reason to lie and they told you what Nasri said, you were then presented with the actual quotes that support their claim and you still refuse to believe it, because it doesn't fit this weird, presumptuous, know it all agenda you appear to have.

As for being a rookie? I've called more posters on their bullshit than you've had school lunches this year.

Re: Samir Nasri

Toure: Nasri's thriving because Pellegrini's let him forget the defensive duties Mancini gave him

If anything he is doing more defensive work

I agree, he seems to have a lot more fight in him this season and looks keen to win the ball back wehn we lose possession.

See these are the reasons I love having a good ding dong with pudge

Superb!!

Re: Samir Nasri

yes, thanks pudge, saved me digging it out! hopefully it'll lead to an admission of being wrong instead of avoiding the thread! that's what this place is all about, god knows i've been wrong enough times

fwiw i think too much is read into mancini's man-management of players, you don't win as many trophies as he has as manager without knowing how to get the best out of a team

Re: Samir Nasri

nah the media were just twisting what nasri said to make mancini look good....

Re: Samir Nasri

Personally I think hes looked better in games this season later one, when one of either aguero or negredo are taken off and samir is aloud to play in the middle just behind which one is left classically with milner coming on and making it a 4231. not to undermine the good progress hes been making in the 4222 positions hes had from the mancini era, just my observation that samir always seems to get in full flow when hes given the space in the middle of the park to run.
