Often pushes forward when we are struggling (eg Madrid CL) so carries the can for poor team performances and probably deserves more credit. One of the few players that has stayed throughout different managerial regimes despite lacking obvious 'star' quality which says it all.

I just don't get the abuse. I agree with a few posters in this thread in that, perhaps Bony or Sterling should of taken the penalty, but he is probably the third choice penalty taker.

Sorry mate but that is the biggest load of crap I have seen on here. Our best ever left back???? Pardon, Donachie, McDonald, Hinchcliffe to name a few off the top of my head.
Call me old fashioned but the first thing I want to see in a defender is the ability to defend and he is rank at that. Talk about crossing all day long but he is abysmal in a one v one situation!

Bobby McDonald and Hinchcliffe ? Fucking hell beam me up Scotty ! They were bang average in generally shite sides what did they win at City ?

Please don't be an idiot. You cannot compare the teams. Would Hinchcliffe look good in this team? Yes, better than Kolarov. You have said he is our best ever left back. That is beyond talking bollocks.

As wth previous comments, Sterling should of took the pen.He won it, last min etc. and 2-1 up. Kolarov is a class defender. We know his strengths and weaknesses. He has been an excellent player for the Blues. I turn GMR off when driving home because of the "glass is empty" comments from " FANS" who tweak their handset cords as they agitate. A win from Manchester's only. Proper.

Nope!
I was replying to the original comment that Kolarov was targeted, when it was actually Clichy

I don't think they ever specifically said Clichy though did they?

Probably something ambiguous, like our 'left side'.

And that's true, it's a long standing weakness, although I think Clichy makes us more solid there, no doubt.

Bony is a penalty taker. It is an oversight from the management team I think. I doubt we will be seeing him take another.
Why? Pearce used to take pens and free-kicks as does Kolarov. Another example Leighton Baines

Great striker of the ball.

Average defensively, phenomenal going forward - creates so many chances. Absolutely key player in this team and we'd be much poorer without him. I don't think people appreciate the amount of running he does - up and down the left flank all game. Noticed in the last month he's been jogging up and down that left wing rather than sprinting as he was in the first few games. A bit tired perhaps as he must have played every game
