He should have settled in by now and showing a little more than he is doing.

This!
Had a season now and I don't see much of an improvement and is prone to making mistakes every game
Grossly over priced and maybe that's a big factor against him as well?
Without Hart this season his inadequacies would have been even more highlighted.

Glad he had bad game but not costed us a point.

The surprising thing for me is Mangala played more minutes in the League than Kompany.

2098 minutes for Mangala
2022 minutes for Kompany

He is hugely suspect as a defender. I looked and hoped for a spark or some hint of future greatness but I'm sorry but its just not there. You can coach certain skills but basic awareness and feel for the game is a gift in great players. We were done over on the price put this one down to Txiki.

Then, and I never, ever really say this to somebody, you know absolutely nothing about football.

I'm not saying that he will be definitely great (though I think he will) but the raw potential is absolutely as clear as day. It's amazing to me that somebody could possibly watch him and not see it.

Perhaps I should have qualified it with up to now he's not shown future greatness. Having played at a good standards in amateur football for 25 years and watched City for 50 years I'd take issue with your presumption that I know nothing about football. Having said that I heard the same when I argued that Balotelli is not the next Pele and that Nasri is not the next French Captain so water off a ducks back mate...

Kompany did exactly the same when he came on. Lost Gomis only for another top save by Joe to pull him out of the Shit. Mangala will be awesome next season.

N.B. That's the worst goal celebration ever from Gomi!! proper cringeworthy!!
Based on what? Under these defensive tactics NONE of our defenders will ever be awesome!

Find it staggering that no matter how poor Mangala is, people keep on banging on about potential. The lad has made well over 200 appearances. The mistakes that riddle his game are here to stay.

Really disappointed with him today - this is a £32m player. We shouldn't be speaking about potential. MDM didn't fair much better either. Do hope he comes good but we definitely need another CB in the summer.

It's not like he's 19 neither, he's 24.

This is what confuses me. Besides his impressive physical attributes he has shown hardly any defensive nous all season and as someone above pointed out he's played more minutes than Kompany so can hardly say he's not played much. And yet people seem to think that next season a switch will flick and suddenly he'll become an intelligent defender who reads the game well and doesn't make stupid errors. This is not a 16 year promising defender who is still learning the position this is a 24 year old who should have ironed out such basic errors by now.

Thought today was his worst game for us. Not overly sure why he seems to get such bad feedback on here. Wasn't his fault we paid the money we did for him but in the previous 3 games in a settled defence he has looked okay.
