Demichelis is probably still first choice out of necessity; Mangala simply isn't good enough. He was on the field for 45 minutes yesterday and made a simple mistake that led to a goal, yet people want him to get a run of games.

He lacks the football intelligence to become a top-level centre back. Admittedly it's hasn't been an ideal time to be integrated into the team, but amid chaos at Everton this season John Stones' class has shone through.

For the money we spent, you want a Rolls Royce like Stones or Varane, not some muscle-bound Sakho substitute who's fee baffled regular watchers of Porto.

Nastasic was better for us than both Mangala and Demichelis.

Mangala needs to play - maybe he'll learn, he's in and out of the team playing with Kompany one week then DM the next - trouble with our club and fans like you is one or two bad games and we're showing them the door - If the attitudes right then maybe we should be giving players a chance AND DEVELOPING THEM as opposed to hanging our hats on lazy prima donna c*nts like Yaya and Nasri who haven't got the desire or stomach for a fight...
Mangala went from unbelievable signing after his debut to useless in many fans eyes ... A lot of teams had been tracking him before we bought him so just don't see how he can be useless, I've seen good and bad in him but he's young.....

LETS GET STONE AND PAY SILLY MONEY AND THEN AND WHEN HE MAKES A FEW MISTAKES WE CAN SAY HE'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH AS WELL AND SELL HIM FOR A DISCOUNT PRICE....

This 100%. Too many impatient fans on here. Whether someone costs £5m or £50m they need time to settle in.

Hold on, id get your point if he was actually getting games. But clearly the manager doesn't fancy him either as he doesn't seem to trust him to play more than 2 games on the spin.

If he played 10 games in a row, and was showing the levels he showed at home to Chelsea in 3 of them, mixed with a few reasonable performances, and perhaps a few poor performances, then id say yeah give the lad a shot because he is still learning.

But lets be honest, the manager can't get him in the team ahead of a 35 year old who cost us next to nothing. IF Pellegrini is still here next season, do you think he will start the season with Mangala alongside Kompany off this seasons performances?

I think my point remains valid. The guy has to have calander and play time to settle. The fact he is down on the latter is no reflection on his ability.

On current performances, I would like to think the best pair we have are MDM and Eli. Not saying they are currently world beaters, but the best we have

Yet the last couple of games Demi has looked awful and Mangalas positional sense cost us a goal.

"I don't agree"

Although it's a moot point as Kompany won't be returning this season.

Vinny should be nowhere near the team at the mo even if not injured.
I'd play MD and EM for rest of season and fast track Denayer into squad next term.

Mangala and Denayer are the future.

We have no choice but to stick with him after the eye watering sum we paid for him. There is always the hope he will be the world beater we hoped he would be but the thing is the mistakes he makes are the sort that are coached out of young CB's at an early age. Ball watching, chasing down every player with the ball, not picking up your man, breaking the defensive line on set pieces are all things that should have been coached out of him by 24 but he's still doing it.

To be honest I think he would be better suited in the defensive midfield position. He's a good tackler, strong, fast and a good passer of the ball and his lack of a footballing brain wouldn't be as big an issue.

If things are as bad as some believe behind the scenes with player unrest etc maybe he is taking Mangala out of the firing line. He's been an easy target for some fans and the media due to his price tag anyway. Mangala is young and it's his first season in this league maybe the thinking is to give him a fresh start next season with a more settled dressing room. Demichelis has experience and has proved he has broad shoulders. Pellegrini did drop Hart till things had settled down for him maybe they are doing something similar with Mangala. Just a thought.
